Aaron Thompson Breaks Out

Aaron Thompson Breaks Out

It’s been just a day since the passing of Kenny Bui and we will never forget him.  We move on with our coverage after a 3 day period of silence but will never ever forget our fallen brother form Everegreen High in Washington; #BuiStrong.

If your looking for the break out player of the year in Oregon you will not have to look any farther then North Eugene High School.  That is the home of Senior Aaron Thompson.  For 3 seasons he has put up crazy numbers and amazing moves that freeze opposing defenses and yet still he has lived somewhat in obscurity.  Why you ask?  What if I was to tell you that it is as simple as the fact that his film has not been available?  Would you believe me?

Aaron Thompson North Eugene High School

Our NWPR Break Out Player of the Month is Aaron Thompson of North Eugene High School.

For many teams making the Hudl footage available is a non-option as Coaches try their best to protect the film and not have their teams readily broken down.  We get that and it is a respectable option.  What that means however is that an athlete can not get their highlights reviewed either and it his day and age that is a problem.   In Aaron’s case we believe that is part of the reason he is under the Radar.  North Eugene has not exactly been a football power and the TV Cameras and media types have not been there often.

Thompson has also been limited by financial constraints.  Even coming up with the money to get his Junior and now Senior Film out was a tough option.  That is now happening and we could not be more impressed.

The 6’0″- 170 lbs speed burner is playing wide receiver and corner.  Through 5 games Aaron has 11 Td’s receiving and we think North of 600 yards and 2 interceptions on Defense.  He plays both ways and is a team leader.  North Eugene is for real folks and are now 5-0.  Not the deepest team for talent they have come together and learned to play winning football.  Thompson is leading the way but deflects any credit to his team- the QB and Line and the other guys.

His moves are quick and powerful and his speed deceptive.  He is cat-like and explosive and van break tackles at will.  For anyone that knows the inside story on this kid none of this is a surprise.  That is because his Bloodline is that of the proud Tarver family.  A terrific group of dynamic athletes both men and women that include his Mother Taryn Tarver who ran track at the U of O, Uncle Seth plays hoops in Japan, Josh Tarver was well known as a star hooper at OSU, and there are more connections.

“I also have my uncle Shon Tarver who played for UCLA and my Grandpa Jon Tarver who played in the NFL for the Eagles and patriots back in 1975. My other Uncle Zack Tarver played for Oregon state for football too.  And Devonte Tarver couldn’t make it to USC on football because of some off field issues.  Now my sister plays basketball for NCU right now, Monique Thompson,” offered Aaron nonchalantly.
Let’s see raw talent and a family resume like that add up to a winning combination.  We love Aaron Thompson and believe he is worthy if being mentioned among the best athletes in the Pacific NW in this years recruiting class.
