Stand Outs Abound At Air One Camp

At Air One we often see kids from the inner City Portland neighborhoods and from Vancouver as well as kids from a lot of the outlying areas too. Today was the end of Washington’s Spring Break but that did not keep a lot of great talent from both States from making it out so we bring you this report on the action and a few of the best guys we saw.

Stand Outs Abound At Air One Camp

We have already been out and about covering a few of the off season events and Networking with the High School Coaches in Oregon and Washington where we reside along the border between the States.  Down here on Sunday’s Coach John Charles of Air One Football Academy has been gaining more and more of a following as kids and Coaches see him as an affordable option who is focused on skill development and not on up-selling the kids.

Jess Krahn at 6’4″ and 215 lbs is a member of the NWPR Rivals Top 100 for 2014

Jess Krahn – Hockinson High School – 6’4″- 215 Lbs- 2014 Grad

This big QB had a very solid Junior Season and has a fantastic arm.  Jess had great vision and that arm of his can really throw that football.  He is  a solid prospect on and off the field and considered by many to be one of the top 5 Qb’s in this 2014 Class coming out of the Pacific NW.

His skill set is getting better and better and his time the last 2 season at Air One is really starting to pay off big dividends.  He went on a major tour of colleges around the West recently and is hearing a lot from the Big Sky schools and Idaho.  He likes EWU and Montana State as well.

His foot speed is improving and he is a QB to watch as the busy camp season comes around.  Catch His Film Here!

Sam Davis is only a Sophomore but started every game last season for Grant and should be a top 5 QB in the Class of 2015.

Sam Davis is only a Sophomore but started every game last season for Grant and should be a top 5 QB in the Class of 2015.

Sam Davis – 6′ 180 lbs – Grant High School QB – 2015

Sam threw fro 2200 yards and 20 TD’s last season for the Generals who always play a tough schedule.  They had a good year and as he has developed into a true leader and prospect he is going to be the center of the team and attack.  An Air One kid for 3 years now he is among the top Grant kids like Nate Haleverson (SMU) and Paris Penn (PSU) who have trained with Coach Charles before moving on to college.

Sam spins a nice ball, has tremendous focus, and he can run too.  A Goal oriented kid who can compete to play at any level.

Sam just returned from a Texas visit to see SMU and loved it.  He is hearing from some other folks and is working very hard.

Leon is 5'11"- 210 lbs- had 1000 yards rushing and 23 TD"s last season and is a terrific defender as well.

Leon Seofele – 5’11”- 210 lbs- RB/Ath – Union High School – 2014

Leon was the MVP of the day today making play after play in the 1-1 groups going up against some good athletes Leon grabbed 2 Interceptions and caught 3 or 4 deep passes that were contested.

All this from a tough nosed kid who has Highlight Film that shows he is a Big Sky talent at least.  Given his size and stature he makes a nice fit as a big RB or a Safety / DB.

He is deceptively fast, smart, and a play-maker.

Another guy who has become better and better at the Air One Football Camp every weekend.  Catch His Film Here!

Larry Jenkins is a rangy and long wide receiver with above average speed. The kid is developing and one to watch!

Larry Jenkins is a rangy and long wide receiver with above average speed. The kid is developing and one to watch!

Larry Jenkins – 6’2″- 180 lbs – Wide Receiver – Benson Tech – 2015

Here is a kid to keep an eye on.  Raw for sure.  But this is the sort of kid that comes to a camp like Air One rough and unpolished and leaves a diamond.

His size was evident all day as was his speed.  His hands and route running are developing but with his new Benson Head Coach Anthony Stoudamire he is going to get that work in.

We liked Larry’s effort and potential and had him as a top prospect today to keep an eye on.

Leroy Girouard of Parkrose is a returning player for the Broncos who should be a force on both sides of the ball.

Leroy Girouard of Parkrose is a returning player for the Broncos who should be a force on both sides of the ball.

Leroy Girouard- 5’10”- 185 lbs – RB / Athlete Parkrose 2014

File Leroy under the category “We want to see more”.  Because we do!  He did everything pretty well and showed nice bursts of speed in the massive indoor gym where training was held today.

New Parkrose Head Coach Maurice France tells us he is getting 10 starters on offense and on defense back and he believes he has a team to  beat this year.  Leroy should be a key part of that success.

We will need to see film or watch him live but we sure do think this young gun can do some nice things as he moves ahead and keeps with his training.

Nino Relford showed good speed and hands and will be a nice weapon for the Broncos this season.

Nino Relford (RT)  showed good speed and hands and will be a nice weapon for the Broncos this season.

Nino Reliford- 5’10”- 170 lbs- Parkrose – 2104

Nino has become a regular at the Air One Camp and has been getting better and better.  Nice skill set over all and a hard worker.

He took a lot of reps in the 1-1 drills at DB and WR.  Probably best suited to defense but a prospect that might project to either side of the ball.

Like many of these athletes his speed will need to improve and ultimately, along with his grades, will determine where he might play after High School.  Right now he is getting the work in and this is the sort of kid coaches love to have.  Great Attitude!

Football fans around Rex Putnam High School know about this young star. Everyone else will too soon enough.

Football fans around Rex Putnam High School know about this young star. Everyone else will too soon enough.

Cedric Brooks – 5’10”-170 lbs- QB- Rex Putnam HS 2016

For his age this guy is ahead of the pack.  If you see him throw he looks like a polished Senior ready to start.  That is what happens when a great athlete who listens and works hard is paired with a True First Team All American like John Charles.

This young gun is learning at lightning pace and we think should / could earn a starting spot at Putnam.  His arm strength was apparent and former PSU and Lincoln High star QB Conner Kavanaugh was impressed saying the youngster has “a terrific arm”.

Brooks is young and we will need to see him play but let’s say there is not too much chance his skill set does not show up under the lights!

Marqueese Royster (white) and Massen Newton of Lakeridge stood out again.

Marqueese Royster (white) and Massen Newton of Lakeridge stood out again.

Marqueese Royster and Massen Newton- Lakeridge HS Linemen

These two cousins made an appearance at camp and worked out in the upstairs gym with the line coaches.  Air One is just adding in some drills and a a linemen  group and the two Lakeridge boys are a great way to start it off.

Royster is a beast and has generated a lot of media attention.  He is 6’0″ and 250 lbs and strong as a horse to add to one of the top Motors in the region.  He is hearing from PSU and Idaho as well as a lot of Big Sky schools.  Massen Newton is his cousin and started every game last season at Lakeridge as a Freshmen.  Both kids are mechanically among the best of the best and therefore garner significant attention.  Stature will be an issue in regards as to what level is the best fit but both boys can beat most kids, regardless of size, on most days.  Pad or no Pads this is some top rated talent here.

Marqueese Royster’s Film Is Here

Massen Newton Hudl Film Is Here

These were just a few of the athletes we were impressed with today!  Air One is a great stop for us and we check in often.  Any kid looking to improve at any age, regardless of talent, would want to try our Air One Football Camp!
