Andrew Kirkland Gains First Major Offer

AT 6’5″, and 285 Andrew Kirklandalready has legit size. And he showcased his footwork, ability to bend and explode and more. He was the most improved linemen in a group at Jesuit that could front for a college team.

With that in mind it is no surprise that he called today to tell us he has received a verbal offer to play football at a D-1 School.

“Basically the Coach from Portland State was at school today and asked to speak to me and he was really up front that they were making me an offer to play for them after my Senior year,” said an excited Kirkland.

It was a really good year over at Jesuit and boy they are loaded with potential stars. One of them has the ability in our view to go all the way and that was confirmed today as he received his first offer.

“Basically the Coach from Portland State was at school today and asked to speak to me and he was really up front that they were making me an offer to play for them after my Senior year,” said an excited Kirkland.

Now that is just a verbal offer but it is significant. It marks the first offer for a talented local kid by a college on the rise and it is another aggressive move by Portland State.

Has he thought about playing there?

“Well it just happened. Yes I have some but I am just starting to think about college,” he said. “This was a really great thing for me today!”

He is a kid that we could easily see at PSU but he is every bit the size and skill level as Evan Voeller and Brayden Kearsley and his teammate Max Rich. All of those kids are heading to the Pac 12 at this point so it is natural to assume that young Mr Kirkland will have some of these same options as well.

“I will be working hard in the off season and ready for any chance I get to show what I can do.”

You can catch Andrew Kirkland live in the Tanoa Bowl Classic right here on OregonPreps.com as he and a stellar group of Oregon Footballers take on Team Alaska on 12-31-11 at Noon!
