We had quite a camp 30 days ago and we will continue to cover the bets of it. The RDAF #AveryStrong showcase was 3 sessions of non-stop action and the boys that attended all gained experience and exposure. One of them that stood out was Archbishop Murphy 2017 Prospect Anfernee Gurley. We first saw Gurley in 2014 and followed up with him through a really nice 2015 season where he showcased pure athleticism on both sides of the ball.
He reminds me a lot of O’dea High School 2 way threat Myles Gaskin in terms of ability and size and Gaskin had early offers before landing a UW offer. He was an under the radar guy and I am not sure the UW even knew what they were getting in Gaskin until the season ended. He ended the season for the Dawgs with 1,302 yards and 14 Td’s and graded out as the 6th best RB in Division 1 as a true freshmen. His success makes him a high level draft pick in a couple of years for sure.
Gurley has a similar frame and some of the same quickness and power. While he will be a Safety, Running Back, and Slot at ABM this year it is at Corner that many schools have interest. He has landed offers from CWU, Weber State and EWU so far. He indicated in the interview below that the UW has some interest and he flashed a smile which just tells us he likes the Purple and Gold. The question going through my mind with Gurley is will the UW take a shot at him and mine gold from their own back yard again like they have done with guys like Budda Baker, Myles Gaskin, Chico McClatcher, Kaleb McGary, Henry Roberts, Trey Adams, and a host of others? Only time will tell.
Anfernee Gurley An Alluring Prospect With Gaskin Like Qualities
Watch Anfernee Gurley get after it in 2015 and stay tuned for him to make it out to camp at the NW 9 this week up in Kirkland, Washington where the best QB’s and Skill guys in the region will spend 4 days getting after it.
More to follow on this guy!
