What a night what a night! Oh my goodness what a night! Round 1 of the Oregon High School playoffs is over and the action was wild and woolly! Although there were many close games and some emotional antics there is only one game to mention tonight at this late hour and that is the Newberg Tigers Win over the #3 South Medford Panthers.
The final was 26 – 23 and it all came down to a pass. One pass.
Anthony Adams is perhaps the best two way player in the State. He and his Tigers came in the 30th seed and went on the road hundreds of miles to take on the #3 seed. The Panthers had one heck of a year. It ended up a David and Goliath story. Adams who has played QB on and off all year as well as many other positions took to the receivers role and made a stunning catch and score with not much more then 30 seconds left. The touchdown would stand and win the game.
He has offers from D1 schools but has yet to land a Pac 12 offer. How the Ducks and Beavers have not offered him is beyond us. Perhaps they would rather the Huskies land another in State stud. Either way this guy is going to make noise on the grid iron at least 1 more week and for years to come! The Tigers of Newberg will face the Tigers of Tigard next week in round 2! See the bracket here.
There is much more to be said about this game including the terrific sportsmanship which the Panthers showed in the loss. For Newberg this was the biggest win in school history perhaps. Thanks to the magic of Twitter here is that play! Catch it here or below. Thanks to Brian Schnee! Watch the Video Here!
