We have covered Armani Marsh a couple of times this past year as he flashed up on our radar after helping Gonzaga Prep win the State Championship last December. The speedy athlete from Spokane has that X factor that just make him stand out. Working hard on and off the field Marsh just landed his first offer.
"I have been offered by University of San Diego," said an excited Marsh.
His first offer comes from the Toreros who are an FCS school and compete in the National conference. We wanted to know how it happened and what Armani had to say.
"Coach Engstrand called and we talked about my off-season plans and what I'm doing to get better for next season. Then he told me the staff watched my film last week and they loved it. After that he offered me and said they really want me to play there," he offered. "And they see me playing as a Cornerback!"
Fresh off a tour of a number of colleges we asked Armani if he had visited the school or knew much about them.
"I know they are D1 FCS. They also schedule a Big Sky school and Ivy League school for their non-conference games. As far as visiting them I did not. I just contacted the staff through Twitter and that's when we started talking. I was going to go to a camp June 11 but I'm taking the ACT on that day."
Learn from this guys and gals. 1) Armani has an awesome HUDL channel and his film and highlights are super well organized. 2) He visited colleges this Spring on his time off. 3) And he did the most important thing of all- he advocated for himself. He reached out and University of San Diego reacted.
NWPR RECRUITING TIP 1: Armani has a great Facebook Page. A majority of you recruits do not have a Facebook Page. That is a mistake. Coaches and others wanting to find you are looking on Facebook.
NWPR RECRUITING TIP 2: Armani chose his name for his Twitter Account. @armani_marsh. Many of you have a Twitter name that has no part of your name in it. Try finding yourself. If you can't find yourself easily with 1 or 2 clicks you are failing as a recruit. Moreover he has his HUDL and a You Tube link right there in his profile- A coach reading this story can go find Armani in one click and watch his film with click #2, He also has his "MESSAGE" button on which many of you do not.
Marsh is a winner. His overall package and the way he is going about things is making him a top prospect. Make no mistake; all of those things he has done are his calling card that bring in the Coaches. His skill showcased on his film is the reason he landed this offer and the fact he reached out to them. Add to that a solid academic base and you have a formula for recruiting success.
Armani Marsh Is a Case study in how to win the recruiting game and NWPR salutes him for doing just that!
