Boys Of Fall; Best Perspective Ever Given on High School Football

Boys Of Fall; Best Perspective Ever Given on High School Football

This is just too good!  If this doesn’t get you ready nothing will!  Having finished the 5 star camps in Oregon and Washington and realizing that the season is already at hand I find my thoughts turning to the Seniors more then anything and I think about their parents and families who have been on this incredible ride with them.

The fact is for 99% of them this is the last 90 -120 days that football will be such a big part of their life.  They all think or hope they are moving on… and for most it is only a dream.  But right now they can’t even conceive of the fact that it is slipping away.  But it is.

They will all know that soon enough.  For now read this and celebrate the season ahead and drink it all in.  All of it.  Play safe boys.

This one is for you!

Three Claps we’re Ready tonight…

Three Claps  (Clap, Clap, Clap)

Three Claps (Clap, Clap, Clap)

“27 years ago I sat in this locker room just like you guys getting ready to play a game.

I walked down the locker room and it still smells the same.

It takes you back real quick.   One of the things that caught me is how fast 27 years goes by.   There are so many people that live vicariously through you!  I would give anything tonight to jump in one of these uniforms with you guys.

Coach on the field Shouting( Do Something my Father Never had the Opportunity to……My Father Never saw Me Play… you Play for your fathers tonight!)

That Feeling goes away, and it goes away and it doesn’t come every Friday Night.

It comes when  you get married.  It comes when your child is born.

So you get it…. you just don’t get it every Friday Night.

Your going to miss that more then anything in the world.

That’s what I miss.  And so you Seniors that are focused on college, your focused on your work after High School….what your gonna do next… your focused on tomorrow aren’t yah?

You got plenty of time for tomorrows.

But these tonights…. there going by fast.

You Focus on Tonight.

This is about you guys.

This is about the guys in this room that care about each other… that know that there are only so many of these nights left.

It’s about you.

Their a faceless opponent.  They just happened to draw the short straw tonight.

Now get your asses ready to play!

Win on three …. One … Two …. Three.

Win!”

This was from Coach Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints when he agreed to go back to his Old High School and give the opening speech of the 2009 Season.  This was at the request of singer Kenny Chesney who remembers his high school football years fondly and how they changed his life.

In a music video production for his song the Boys of Fall Chesney realized something.  There was more then a song or video here.  There was a stories here.

In fact so many stories that there was enough to make a TV series and so Chesney has helped to create just that.

More information on that Here.

For now just read that speech and you Seniors listen to Coach.  You got one shot to make memories and live for today.  Right now is all any of us have.

Play safe and play your hearts out.  Coach knows what he is talking about.
