Puyallup’s Brandon Illies Showcasing Big-Time Talents As Junior Season Begins

Brandon Illies at Puyallup High School is not a household name– yet! But by the end of his Junior year he should be.

Puyallup’s Brandon Illies Showcasing Big-Time Talents As Junior Season Begins

Out in the South Puget Sound looms a superbly talented two sport junior juggernaut in Puyallup high school’s own Brandon Illies. He is a terrific rocket firing quarterback
for the Vikings football squad and standout pitcher/catcher for the Puyallup baseball nine.
Brandon Illies is one of the most exciting and electrifying QB's in the State of Washington.

Brandon Illies is one of the most exciting and electrifying QB’s in the State of Washington.

Last fall he led the South Puget Sound League’s southern division in passing with 2960 yards and 33 touchdowns. Illies also dashed and darted for another 449 yards and 8 touchdowns
on the ground. 41 total touchdowns as a super sophomore?? Not too shabby. He was a 2nd team all league selection.
The flame throwing 6’1″ 185 pounder had a couple monster games last season. He threw for 5 scores and rumbled for 2 more, as well as amassing an amazing 572 total yards in a week 3
loss to Kentlake. In the Vikings state play-in win over Kent-Meridian 45-13, Illies threw for 338 yards and 4 scores. Brandon’s favorite target from a season ago also returns. Senior
burner Levi Jordan comes back after catching 62 balls for 912 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Illies has done some giant things on the hardball diamond for the Viks. Brandon helped Puyallup to the state 4A final four as a freshman. He batted .402 with 14 doubles and 26 runs
batted in. He was 3-2 on the mound with a 2.13 earned run average. Illies was a 1st team all-leaguer as a ninth grader.
Last spring the hard hitting sophomore smoked the ball at a .333 clip, with 24 runs scored and 25 runs batted in. He went 7-2 on the bump, with a tidy 1.92 earned run average. Brandon
was the SPSL South Co-MVP last season. He was also an all-state 4A 1st team selection as a pitcher. The jack of all trades diamond gem played for team Northwest in the Perfect Game
17 and under world series. Not a bad couple of years at the ball yard?
With two more years left to terrorize the South Puget Sound League, expect absolutely huge things from this young gun. It all starts this weekend with a road tussle at Beamer high.
