Reilly Hennessey Lands Dream Offer

It was a golden day for a kid many might call the golden boy at Camas High School because Reilly Hennessey has had the golden touch through the air for the Papermakers the past couple of years. EWU offered him today!

Reilly Hennessey Lands Dream Offer

Wow what a busy night this has turned out to be.  Lots and lots of offers dropping across the Northwest and one of the guys we have not hear from for a while just called to say he hit pay dirt.  It was a golden day for a kid many might call the golden boy at Camas High School because Reilly Hennessey has had the golden touch through the air for the Papermakers the past couple of years.

With 2,850 yards and 28 TD’s to his credit the 6’3″- 185 pound gunslinger tore it up last season leading Camas to the State Title game.  We were standing next to the staff from Eastern Washington when Camas beat the #2 ranked Federal Way Eagles to advance to the State Championship against Skyline.  The EWU Coaches were impressed with the QB who had a very efficient night and led the team to the win with poise.

Tonight that effort and the other efforts he has made paid off when Eagles Head Coach Beau Baldwin called to have a little chat.

“When we first started talking it was about the fact that they were looking at me and he wanted me to know they are a little slower about offering guys and that they really take their time and do a lot of checking on prospects.  So I was thinking this is good and it is a sign they like me,” said Reilly.  “Then he absolutely shocked me by making me an offer.  He told me that he wanted me to come be an Eagle and play for them at the next level.”

How did that hit him?

“I was at a loss for words.  It was like “Wow”.  I was truly speechless.”

When it all sank in and he hung up the phone he just turned and looked at his parents.  They shared a few moments that were magical and Hennessey  said they sat and just all smiled.  Realizing it had happened.  The “Offer” , the chance to play on to Saturday and to have his college paid for.   It was big!

“I have to say this was not just an offer.  It was an offer from a school and a group of coaches at the very top of my list.   Maybe my Highest school,” he offered.

Why are the Eagles up so high?

“It is the campus and the program and mainly the staff.  They are just an amazing bunch of guys you know.  I have been there 2 or 3 times and loved it.  The offense is a great for me too.”

Reilly of course wants a shot at the Pac 12 etc. but says all he can do it continue to climb and continue to work.  It is after all how he got this offer.

In the near term he will be attending the NW Elite Football Camp (Gesser Camp) on June 7th at Mercer Island and the Nike NFTC Camp June 9th.  After that it is off to Northern Colorado Camp and PSU Camp.  He really likes the Vikings and says they are another team he is really excited about playing for if an offer could happen.

Another great kid from the NW is on the board with an offer.  And this guy hails from the GSHL where the love from Colleges is still lacking.  He can be a guy this year who can really help change all of that!  Great job Reilly!
