Cameron Saffle Stays The Course- Skyline Stud Reports In

Back at it after a couple days off we had a note to touch base with big time talent Cameron Saffle.  The 6’4″- 225 lb. Skyline Spartan was coming off of the team camp at UPS when we caught up to him and his recruitment and outlook on the season was fresh on his mind.

Cameron Saffle was all over the field last season and this year is going to define him as one of the best of the best!

Cameron Saffle was all over the field last season and this year is going to define him as one of the best of the best!

With offers in hand from Idaho and Air Force Academy Cameron is very pragmatic about the road ahead from a recruiting stand point.  He has options and more in his gun sights.

“I have been talking with UW and been to see them.  The coaches are clearly interested and they let me know they are going to be watching me as the season gets going,” said the big D-End.  “I know because I had an injury last season a lot of teams are just waiting to see some early season film.  So all I can do is get ready to compete and help my team.  I love the options I have already so anything more at this point is great!”

He likes the UW and they like him.  The kid is fast and posted the 12th best SPARQ score at the Nike SPARQ Combine in Seattle last month; besting over 640 other kids at the camp.

“My 40 was decent at 4.8 (Laser) but I think my shuttle at 4.10 was considered one of the best there and that is something that shows my agility is increasing!”

That, for those that do not know, is a big time mark for such a big kid.  Anyone concerned about an old injury should love seeing that.  This more then anything tells us why Saffle is so dangerous at the D-End spot.  He is long, powerful, and can make offensive linemen miss.  That is the stuff a great D-End is made of.  He plays linebacker and will be a Tackle on the O-Line too!

Besides the UW he has had contact with Stanford and the word is that Notre Dame is sniffing around through his coaching staff who had contact with the Irish.  More to follow on his recruitment as things unfold.

But what about the Spartans?  Gone is Jake Heaps and Max Browne and Kilton Anderson.  What will the team look like this year?

“We are going to be good! We just returned from Team Camp at UPS and our run game is looking amazing.  In live drills we dominated at times.  We ran a drill where each team has 3 downs to score from the 10 and they go until another team stops them.  Well we went at it for a long time and scored so much that no one ever stopped us.  The line looked great and it looks like Blake Gregory is going to be our QB.  He was great at leading the squad, the guys all listened and trust him.  He gives you that look- maybe a wink- and you know the play is going to break big! It was exciting to see happening at Skyline for sure!”

That run game was powered by Chandler Wong (5’8″- 215 lb. bruiser RB- SR) and Junior rising star Rashaad Boddie (6’0″- 220 lbs Rb- JR).  After years if lighting up the sky it is a fun and almost mystical feeling to think about the Spartan machine grinding up the ground like so many warriors from the Movie 300!   This Is Sparta… I can hear it now ringing across the stadium behind those to studs.

Saffle and guys like Riley Griffiths will help get that push to spring these backs and don’t think they won’t throw the ball too.  It is  given!

Cameron Saffle is a top tier talent and he has a lot to bring to any college on and off the field.  We thank him for the review and the Update!
