Looking For Answers The Huskies Come For The “Blue Mamba”

It was a long weekend for the Washington Huskies.  As talented of a team as they are they still could not give those Ducks a run for the money.  But the Dawgs continue to build the team and the program.  And there are definite signs that things are improving.  Their is depth beginning to build up at a number of positions and top talent starting as Freshmen and Sophomores.

Still they could not find an answer for DeAnthony Thomas.  At least not yet.

In a very astute move over the weekend the Huskies offered Federal Way Sophomore Chico McClatcher.   And in doing so they may have found a solution for the future in the speed and big time utility player.  They may have found their version of the "Black Mamba".

Because this season the super fast all purpose Eagle has earned himself the name the "Blue Mamba".  And that folks is no joke.  His 4.47 laser 40 at the SPARQ Event last Summer where we covered him was proof he is among the fasest kids in the Nation.

Chico plays all over the field for Federal Way and has been a known entity to a few of us who have been lucky enough to see him break out the past 2 years on the combine and Camp circuit.

The terrific Running Back and Defensive Back is 5'7" and 165 pounds.  Very much like Thomas at Oregon.  And he has just Nasty moves and speed.  Just like Thomas.  He returns kicks, can catch the ball out of the backfield, play the slot, find openings in coverage, and torch opposing secondaries.  All just like Thomas.

So maybe the youngster was due for his first Major offer and maybe the Huskies see in him what they see in Thomas at Oregon.  These type of kids are making the difference at major Football programs and Chico will no doubt have many more offers.  But to have your in State University come after you in 10th grade is pretty special.

Chico says he has offers form Portland State and Washington now and is getting major attention from WSU, Oregon State, and UCLA too.  And no doubt there will be more who will verbally pledge to offer and recruit him early in his Junior year.

The Eagles of Federal Way are undefeated and are a loaded squad.  Several players have offers to play college ball.  Chico has added 10 TD's to the mix and has done it on the ground, through the passing lanes and on kick returns and most all of them have been the stuff of Highlight reels.  He has added a dangerous threat to an already loaded squad that features Ezekiel McNeal at TB, Rod Jones at FB, and Michael Tate at Wide receiver just to name a few of their weapons.

That has them soaring at 6-0 and #2 in the WIAA 4A Division and they look like a team ready to make a run to the Tacoma Dome for sure.  Chico is going to be a force for 2 1/2 more years at Federal Way and his contribution to the team is only going to grow leaps and bounds in the years ahead.

The Huskies may have found an answer in the "Blue Mamba" if they can land him National Letter of Intent Day in 2015.  For now they will have to wait but made a brilliant move in making their intentions known.

Here is Chico's Film and if you get a chance to see Federal Way play this season you are in for a real treat.
