Christian Brandt-Sims About To Embarq On Future

Tonight a quick look at a young man who is in our view about to rise the ranks of the Prep Football scene in the Pacific Northwest.  The name you know; at least partly.  Christian Brandt-Sims.  The “Brandt-Sims” label was worn with pride by Isaiah Brandt-Sims, Christian’s Older brother, who is on his way to Stanford on a full ride scholarship for Football.  The speedy all purpose athlete from Wenatchee High School wrote his name in the history books of Track and Field not only in the State of Washington but in the US after winning the 100 and 200 meters in 4 consecutive years.  Speed like that we have never seen nor may ever seen again.

The name however is not the only reason to recognize the younger Christian.

Christian Brandt-Sims won an All Camp Award at the NWEFC Camp June 6th in Seattle and rightly so with catches like this one just days before his surgery.

Compare the two brothers?   That is a fools game but some will try.

They do look a bit alike but Christian is going to have size his brother does not.  The speed is there in both kids but the younger brother won’t fill those shoes and in a way God has smiled upon him making his 6’4″ frame best suited for catching the football or chasing down QB’s.  Something time will work out.

Do not be fooled though.  This young man is fast and showed that by taking 3rd in the WIAA State Track Championships 110 meter hurdles and 4th in the 300 meter hurdles.  A feat he accomplished after only coming into the track season a few weeks prior.  His long legs and his natural ability helped him blow past Seniors and those that had worked non-stop for years.

Beyond that we now know that Christian did that with a bone floating in the back of his right foot which he just had removed to allow for his future as an athlete.    The surgery is not uncommon and was done in early June.  What looked liked an August or September start to his comeback from Os Trigonum syndrome is way ahead of schedule.  Christian is already out of his boot and on to rehab and may make the season opener at this rate.  Something the Panthers will not doubt be very happy about.

“I have been lifting and getting to work outs with the team and keeping and eye on things.  It has been amazing how quick I have come back,” said the 6’3.5″ and 210 lb athlete.  “I think we as a team can be pretty darn good.  We are going to have a good shot to do as well or better then last year if we keep at it.”

On the recruiting front he has some major interest already with schools like Oregon, USC, Stanford, and others checking in.  That will all have to wait for his Junior film.  Even the brother of a star like Isaiah will have to prove his worth.  Question is where on the field will be his best fit for now and the future?

“Wide receiver for sure.  Then some Tight End seems to be in the works.  Coach has also talked to me about playing some speed rush defensive end too.  I am good to go wherever I am needed.”

One thing seems certain.  With two seasons left the young man has a lot of upside and will get some serious attention as we move ahead this next year; partly because if the name and mostly because of his size and athletic prowess.  We wish Christian Brandt-Sims a very fun Summer and terrific start to the 2014 season ahead.
