Humphreys Lands Boise State Offer

After a 5 day run of Hoops coverage we are back on the Football grind. And what better way to do that then to report that our premier Defensive End in the Pacific Northwest has landed another D-1 Offer. Connor has a lot of schools looking at him and with the Boise State offer his total comes to 5.  Others in on the big time linemen include Oregon State, Arizona State, Wyoming, and Portland State.   BSU is known for recruiting on character and overall ability to fit into the scheme of what they do;  not so much on star ratings and “hype” showered over a recruit.

With Connor they would be getting a blue-chip kid who is a true scholar athlete and a guy who has always said he will help any team that gets him anyway that he can.  An defensive linemen there is little doubt that most feel his talents would be best  used devouring Quarterbacks and setting a brutal edge on the defensive front.  But after seeing him for 3 whole days in pads last year as the featured coverage team at Stan Brock’s  TrenchCamp (TrenchCamp.com) we know that he is equally good on the offensive side of the ball.

So what happened exactly in regards to this offer?  How did the Broncos make their move these past couple of days?

“At the Junior day right before I left Coach Strausser, the O-line coach,  said they were going to offer; they just had to talk as a staff about it and would call me Monday.  Then Coach Smith told me to call Coach Strausser over a message on FB  tonight,” said Humphreys.  “I Called him and said that I would be a great fit in their program.”

Now what about the positional question?

“They offered me to play o-line for them which is different to me.  I definitely have to take that in mind when thinking about my decision.”

What else transpired while out there in Boise?

“While I was there I  had lunch with Coach Peterson,  Strausser and Smith.   All great coaches with good coaching morals. For a head coach to sit down and have lunch with me means a lot too,” added Humphreys.

Was there any connection to BSU and were they a team Connor had been thinking about prior to the visit?

“I love Boise it is a great city.  I have family that grew up there and are huge Bronco fans.   Boise State has been on my favorites list for awhile now,  so to get an offer from them is indescribable.”

Great kid.  Great offer.  And to have these choices is a real luxury but has been hardly fought for and earned all the way by the big Junior from CC who will no doubt have more coming his way.  Probably sooner then later!
