How could anyone come into Lake Stevens and fill the shoes of the great Jacob Eason? Off at Georgia now, Eason also known as “Skinny” and rated #1 in the nation last season, left craters instead of footprints on the turf at the corner of NE 26th Street and 115th Avenue. How could any QB walk onto that field and not be worried they would never live up.
No problem; enter Junior Conor Bardue. The Junior has led the Vikings now to a 4-0 start and if you did not know Eason was gone you might think he was still there.
In the big win Friday over Stanwood (54-8) Bardue threw 17 of 20 (.85%), 7 touchdowns, 380 yards, and no interceptions. This is a QB rating of 164.52. Folks that is just unbelievable!
That was no fluke. Bardue came into that game on fire and is perhaps right now the most efficient QB in the NW.
Total Yards Passing: 1,274
Touch Downs: 21
Pass completions: 72 / 92 passing : .77.17%
Yards Per Game: 318.50
QB Rating: 144.71
The kid can really play. He has great arm strength, rolls out well, and best of all has terrific Vision. We like his cool and calm approach to the game and he seems very much in control of the offense and what he is doing out there.
The Vikings have a solid O-Line and the film below will show they are a cohesive and effective unit. Buying Bardue the time he needs is giving him a chance to shine.
Add to that big time WR targets in Hunter Eckstrom (SR) who has 300 yards and 7 TD’s and Anthony Hutchinson (JR) with 200 yards and 5 TD’s and you have the moving parts to go deep into the playoffs. Blake May has rushed for 300 yards and 5 TD’s and has some good production receiving as well.
This is a team that can make a run at the Tacoma Dome and no doubt about it – Bardue is filling those “Skinny” shows in a big way. For sure being mentored by Eason has only helped him but the talent folks is for real!
Enjoy his 3 game highlight film below and find him and Eckstrom on the All NW Top 300 list that we send to college coaches (over 1,000) monthly free of charge.
