All words we use in the “business” to define what we want in a linebacker. These are the guys that set the tone on defenses across America and have the unenviable task of patrolling the entire field. They have to read run and pass and react to both instantaneously. Being this guy means you get blamed for almost everything that goes wrong on defense and you get to be the highlight reel when a big play is made.
Tonight we feature Dillon Fargo of Monroe High School
Now in 2015 we have quite a few big time Linebackers and some fit the Pac 12 prototype and have the offers to back that marker up. Others lack size or speed and still others are playing in far away places off the grid of the I-5 Corridor here in the Pacific NW. One guy we have been watching has sent in his film and while he isn’t the biggest or from a premier school he is a complete personification of the words we articulated in Paragraph #1 above.
Dillon Fargo is from Monroe High School in Washington. He was named First Team All Wesco Middle Linebacker last season and this year the 6’1″ – 200 pounder is really laying out the punishment in a most convincing fashion. Is he a Pac 12 guy? Probably not but he plays like one. He could easily be a regular starter at the D1- AA level and was the MVP at the EWU summer camp. We love his speed and patience in making his reads but watch his film below and you will see a non-stop motor and an aggressive style of play that has opposing QB’s fearful. A great kid from a great family and in our view a young athlete worthy of any coaches attention. Here is Dillon’s mid-season Senior film- good job youngster!
