Double-Dip: A Look at Two Of Washington’s Very Best Athletes

The Double-Dip!  Call it a two for one.  Sometimes we are writing so fast and furious we have to find more ways to get more kids considered.  As the longest standing analyst in the Pacific Northwest with over 4,000 published stories and features we are evolving and changing for the better.

More of you call and send in players.  More parents call and we answer questions.  More Coaches need help getting a kid looked at.  Recruiting questions come in right and left.  How to survive and stand out and navigate through the recruiting labyrinth?  All answered all the time for free to the best of our ability.

And the noise is rising in a crescendo of interest crashing across the Northwest and spilling out over the Rockies and beyond.

Consider the 400% increase in the annual offers over the past 7-8 years.  Their stories are being heard and we want yours to be next.

So engage and jump in.  Tweet and share and post to your friends and families.  Because together with all of you we are having a huge impact.  We get calls every week form all over the Nation and from Canada and over seas.  All are wanting information on kids or giving us information on kids.

This open exchange of information and stories is working as a group collective knowledge is building and growing of the fact that Northwest boys and girls are perhaps the best student athletes in the Nation.

But we need to do more.  So we introduce the Double-Dip.  A new feature where we pair two kids stories in one and send them out to the world.  Just like that tasty Double Dip cone at the local D-Q or tasty Freeze!    So Good!

Here is our #1 Write Up for the Double Dip and our 5th story today.  Not too bad a days work!

Desmond Young – Edmonds-Woodway:  RB/DB-  5'10"-177 Pounds- Senior

This kid is special.  We covered him a couple of times in 2012 and he is perpetually on our list of top talent in Washington's class of 2012-2013.  The kid had a rough start to the season missing 4 games after having a great start to a bad ankle injury.

But he is playing through the pain now and powering his squad through some serious pain and he admits he is not 100%.

But consider last weeks 255 yards and 3 TD's and the week before he had 200 yards and 4 TD's to lead all rushers.  Desmond is a top talent and he is proving to colleges paying attention that he can play through pain and manage himself very well.  That is huge!

"We have made some mistakes this year.  And with the injury it was hard.  I missed games and that killed me.  But you know what we are coming together and getting better.  And there are no regrets.  We are proud of where we are at," said Desmond who sports a 4.48 40 time.

Now he is getting ready to lead his team into the playoffs against a TOUGH Bellarmine Prep Team.  That will not be easy as the Lions are super tough!

"I am playing both ways and we are confident we can compete.  That is the key for us right now."

College developments?

"Portland State is calling a lot.  Nevada is looking as is Idaho and some others too.  So I feel good things are going to happen soon," he concluded.

Best wishes to he and Edmonds-Woodway!  He is a Premier Athlete looking for offers although he has a great package worked out with D-2 Wayne State; he says he will look at any offers from schools that would like him to play for them.  Great attitude from a great kid!

Quincy Carter- Kent-Meridian High School- 6'1"-190 Pounds- QB/Safety:

Enter the Junior star on the rise.  This is him right here.  Watch and learn because to see him you will know.  He is special.

Quincy can run and he can throw.  Witness last weeks HUGE WIN over Kentridge.  Carter had 265 yards and 5 TD's.  he ran for 4 and threw for 1 from his QB spot in the Shotgun Spread offense.  And his talent is building week over week.

His Mid Season Film is Here:  http://www.hudl.com/athlete/620369/highlights/17361410

Now tonight the Royals just dropped one to Puyallup tonight in a rare Tuesday Night Game.  That will eliminate them from the playoffs and Puyallup will go on and face Skyline Friday.  Not much time for them to prepare!

Carter had around 2,000 yards on the season of total offense.  He showcased a decent arm and the need to work on this reads throwing more picks then he would have liked.

But the good news is he showed that he can run and score when he needs too.  In the spread he can be a real threat as he is the best weapon out there most downs.

"We had some great athletes this season. Our receivers really came along.  Cartez Green, Benny Ngyuen –  Randall Cooper and Dion Leung and Henry Hammond are just a few guys we have that had a great season.  We came a long way."

The win they had over Kent-Meridian was the first win in years against them. They also beat powerhouse Kentlake for the first time in a long time too.

"Those wins were big and gave this team a lot to be proud of and a lot to build on.  So next year we have young guys coming up and coming back and they will know what that feels like," he offered.

The terrific athlete said school is going good and he that he looks forward to off season training and the chance to run Track again where he also excels.

Self Assessment:  "My strengths are my speed, agility, and strength.  My hard work ethic is there too.  And I will work on my reads and my accuracy in the offseason.  I am confident I will get much better before next year starts.  But no one loves the game more then I do."

Enough said Quincy.  Great season and best wishes to you guys in the offseason.
