SEC Makes A Move On Downs

Devante Downs just keeps heating up.   Maybe we will just call him “D” as it will take up less ink.  The young man from Mountlake Terrace landed his 9th offer today and this one came in from the SEC.

“Vanerbilt offered me today,” said Downs.  “That is pretty cool.”

SEC baby.  Once you make your name out there it’s a pretty cool thing.    Because kids from Washington just do not land offers everyday from the Nation’s powerhouse League.  Vandy is not the class of the SEC but they are rising and Downs shared a few thoughts of relevance.

“They want me as a Running Back.  They loved my film.  I really like the program and what Coach Donovan (John) was telling me.  Academics are strong there and they are on the rise too,” said Downs.

One thing about Downs in his 6’3″- 230 lb frame.  He believe in himself and his ability.  He can command the offense and he can beat people.  He will hit you and run you over and then when you get up he will out sprint you to the goal post.  And a guy like him wants to show he is the best.  So that SEC opportunity has him amped up.

Responding to our question about the chance to take on top talent Downs responded, ” Yea that is something I really like.  And it’s a chance to prove myself and my talents even more.”

About half of his offers are for Linebacker and half are for Running Back.  He will play either but sure loves the idea of having that football in his paws.  And at Vandy he appears to have that chance as well.

Updates to follow.  Double-D is a 2 Alarm Fire and burning hot!
