The kid is a stud. In every sense of the word. Gunnar Amos has already been fully accepted to West Point and can play QB for Army next year. Same thing applies to Weber State, Idaho, and Idaho State. The 6’1″- 198 lb QB / Athlete from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho has the whole package. He led the Vikings to to the Idaho State Championship game coming up 7 points short to a loaded Madison squad. Before he was done this amazing gunslinger had posted 3,601 yards and 37 TD’s. That put him at the top of the heap for NW QB’s in 2013 and he was only a Junior.
The son of Head Vikings Coach Shawn Amos is smart. He has that 6th sense on the football field and knows how to win. So when we asked him to host a small event for injured Priest River, Idaho football player Bobby Clark we did not know what to expect. We were blown away with the fact that this kid rallied his team mates to come to an event and spend 3 hours or so supporting a fallen brother. It was something none of use will ever forget and Gunnar’s leadership and can do attitude showed us that this guy has the stuff of a great leader.
Any program, big or small, will be lucky to get this kid. He can play a number of positions and is focusing on the season ahead and making the right fit for him in the end. He is one of the only kids that ever told us that he is first going to check out the character of any program he considers and the commitment the Coaches have to kids off the field. Gunnar Amos has the aspects coaches are looking for and we can not thank he and his guys enough for what they did for Bobby Clark!
Here is our interview with Gunnar from last week.
