The Vandals and the Bengals were busy yesterday grabbing up some of the best of the NW Class of 2013.  This was a great outcome as these two schools will continue to mine the best of the rest in the NW who are missing out on bigger schools for a variety of reasons.

Dave Southern of the Idaho Statesmen did a great job of tracking each one of these great kids and laid out his take on the scholarships offered and what each athlete brings to the table.

As Oregon, OSU, the UW, Boise State, and even WSU continue to improve their programs they have become increasingly stingy on taking kids from the NW with a mere handful making it this season to any of these teams.  That means we have an ever increasing vacuum of opportunity for the kids of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

Picking up the slack has been the Big Sky conference whose teams have roared in taking great kids who had legitimate D-1 talent.  That has made these team National Title contenders.  More on that in another story.

This is why Idaho and Idaho State can become such a force in the NW recruiting scene.  They are Division 1 and 1AA and have a good story to tell.  One that we feel can improve as the next few years come along.

We applaud the work of these Idaho Schools and hope they will get more and more aggressive in taking our Northwest kids.  It is and has always been our belief that they are the best of the best and can help any program.  Staying closer to home is a really great option too!~
