Jackson Keimig Rides Undeniable Talent Into Spring

Jackson Keimig left an impression on me the first time I saw him and it was a very favorable one.  In his first game as a member of the Bothell Cougars squad Jackson showed us that he had the size and the skill set to be a terrific college prospect.  Against the Coeur d’Alene Vikings (Idaho State Champs)  in the Emerald City Classic at Husky Stadium he had a big role in a come from behind win that electrified the crowd.  Keimig, a 6’3″ now 218 lb. specimen, caught 6 or 7 passes in traffic and took a beating from a tough group of defenders but he gained yards and made crucial plays to extend drives.

Bothell High School athlete Jackson Keimig can get it done on both sides of the ball and he is a top recruit for 2015.

Later on in the season we saw him again and he did not disappoint.  This is a really fast big kid who can play H-Back, Wide Receiver, some Tight End on offense.  There is no reason Head Coach Tom Bainter could not line him up in the backfield in a jumbo package as a lead blocker or feature back.  He is just that versatile.

On defense people say Safety and I do not argue that.  But a lean wide kid like this who is already 220 lbs is going to be 230 pounds before he ever gets onto a collegiate campus and that just makes me think Outside Linebacker.  No matter as college coaches recruit athletes and short of a 6’5″ skinny QB or a 6’9″ monster Tackle kids do get moved around all over the place.

And then there is the 3.9 GPA  student.  Yes!  That is the gold right there that college coaches are going to need form here on out to win the recruiting game.  This kid is an Honors student with a passion for business and most of the Ivy League and schools like Oregon State and Utah are closing in on him.  He and his family have a Spring Break trip planned in April back East and Jackson says they are going to see them all if they can.

“Harvard,  Cornell, Penn, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Yale are all on my radar.  So we want to visit as many of those schools as we can.  We want to make it a fun and very productive trip too,” said Keimig.

Stanford is the dream.  And he has the raw skill to be “that guy”.  He has been to their camp and is going to go back again this year and continue to work on that option.

Right now he is training for Track where he will compete in the 300 HH and some of the throws.  In addition he will work on his sprints to try and get his 40 time down from 4.65 to the 4.5 mark.  A kid that big and that fast is a very serious threat on the football field and with a QB phenom like Ross Bowers there is no doubt he is going to put on a show this year at Bothell.  You add Dayzell Wilson (WR) and Sam McPherson into the mix and WOW what an offense that should be as the 2014 season unfolds.

“There are many skills that I believe I have that are beneficial to football. Strength, footwork, toughness are all things that I think I have. But the #1 skill I have is believing that I can be a great football player if I work hard enough. If there is a skill that I don’t have, I’m going to go out and get it. I know, for example that I need to work on speed. I spend a lot of time in the off season with a dedicated speed/agility trainer.”

About Jackson as a Student-

“Being an honors student and a multi-sport athlete has been challenging but I’ve learned a lot of things that I believe will help me become a successful college athlete. Working through adversity, prioritizing and balancing my schedule have been important life skills. Although I enjoy the other sports that I’ve played over the years, like basketball and track, the drive and passion I have for football keeps me laser focused on the things I need to do to be competitive in the sport. Consistent conditioning as well as increasing my speed and agility are my priorities between seasons.

Having parents who have always been active in the community inspires me to give back. I am interning for a non-profit organization called “Rough Diamonds”. They do mentoring for young athletes and provide academic and athletic guidance to kids who have talent but may not have the support or resources. It feels good to be part of an organization that helps kids find their ticket. My dream is to get a good education, play college football and then return to my hometown to tell kids that you are only as limited as your imagination.”

To our many Coaches and readers this is a young man with a lot to offer.  We highly recommend that you look closely at Jackson Keimig and consider him as a NW Prospect to recruit in 2015.
