Jake Gall On Course As Player Of The Year Candidate

WashingtonPreps.com keeps a pulse on the vast expanse that is the Pacific Northwest like no other Prep Sports website.  Maybe it is our experience as the longest running family of websites or our excellent analysts and connections.  We never get fixated on big school versus small.  There is no place we have not looked for kids.

And Jake Gall in the wonderful town of Cle Elum is one of those great finds.

Right between Northbend and Ellensburg on US 90 is the town of about 1,900.  The Yakima River is there running right through town.  And it is the first town to offer Snow Skiing West of Denver.  They began strapping on the skies there in 1921 where hundreds and thousands came to Ski until the depression and Snoqualmie Ski Resort ended that.

There was the Great Fire of 1918 that destroyed 70% of the City devouring 29 City Blocks if mostly wooden buildings built in the late 1800's and early 1900's.  Tragedy struck the town again when their native born son Commander Dick Scobee went down on the Space Shuttle Columbia in a sad day for the US Space program.

Through the good and bad times the little town on the East side of the Cascades has endured.  And when Jake Gall moves on to college they will have seen one of their finest shine a bright light on the Town and the talent it can produce.  Because Gall has dominated for two years now and has proven when put into situations with other top recruits that he is top even among them.  The reality is he is a truly special guy.

Gall has verbally committed to Portland State University.  And since he did that Eastern Washington, currently rated #1 in the Nation, has come for him too.  At last check he was still hearing from Oregon State and Idaho and a host of D-1 schools.  His heart appears to be still set but things can still change as we all know.

To date this Year Jake has done the following:

2012 Stats (Senior Year)
Rushing Att: 65, Yards 909, Td’s 15… Average: 13.9
Receptions:18, Yards: 377, Td's: 3… Average: 20,9
Kick/Punt Return: 9/264 Yards, 1 Td

Solo Tackles: 55, Assist: 40,   Sacks: 1,  Interceptions: 2

For his Career he has:

Career Stats

Rushing Att: 263,  Yards, 3216, Td’s: 44….Average: 12.2
Receptions: 71, Yards, 1326, Td’s: 11 ….Average: 18.6
Tackles: 174,  Assist: 178,  Interceptions: 9

So fare this year his Squad is 7-1 and they are likely headed to 8-1.  Their only loss came to a tough Zillah squad in Overtime.  So this is a terrific team.  And Gall is their leader.

Last week in 2 Quarters of play Jake had:

7 Carries for 120 yards 3tds,
3 catches for 80 yards 1td.
6 solo tackles and 1 assist.

Watch his efforts here and be aware that one of the very best players in the State is right there in Cle Elum, Washington.  Great story of a kid form a great town.  Jake Gall.
