Jake Luton Lands Offer #1 From Idaho

He has impressed everyone that has seen him the past 18 months and this Summer was no exception.  Jake Luton, the 6'5" 210 lb Quarterback from Marysville-Pilchuck High School, has been the topic of quite a few coaching staffs this last month.  The reasons are crystal clear.

If you watch him his size gives him an advantage.  His Vision is excellent rarely missing a receiver opening up.  The long arms and height that he is delivering that ball from keeps it well above outreaching hands of defenders.  And his trajectory and Spin on his passes is spot on text book.

Luton is a student of Air One Football Academies John Charles so we touched based with Coach Charles.

"Anyone who gets Jake is getting a QB with great coach-ability who is smart, who asks the right questions, who is a great leader, and who makes great decisions," says Charles.  "His arm strength is off the charts for a High School kid so he will be ready to play early."

High praise from a guy who is coaching many of the best QB's in the Nation as a Nike Elite 11 Coach as well as running Air One Football.

Luton had high praise for Idaho.

"I went to their camp and I loved it.  The smaller format was great and the coaching was amazing," said Luton who was still reeling from the offer.  "The staff saw me at the NW Elite camp and then live at their camp and Coach Petrino wanted to see more so he asked for my film.  He asked me to stay in touch so I have been doing that the past week or two."

That led to he and the legendary offensive Coach talking today.

Luton continued, "Coach saw my film and loved it.  He said a few things and then came right out and offered me to be a Vandal and a QB of the future there.  So I am feeling great about that option."

The question is will he end up there.  He discussed the fact that 1/2 of the Big Sky and other schools are constantly calling and saying they are close to doing something but have not.  At this juncture he will be looking for a D-1 option that could rival the Idaho offer if he is going to make a decision.

"I went to camps at PSU, Boise State, Oregon State, and Idaho.  I worked hard at the camps and left it all out there.  It is great that Idaho saw that and liked me.  The other schools seem to really like me too but time will tell.  Right now I am really really happy with this option."

What stood out the most for him about Idaho?

"Coach Petrino was out running routes and catching passes and just into it.  That was awesome to see and it makes you want to play for him."

A great fit potentially for one of our Top NW QB's this year and a guy who thinks his team is ready to make a serious run into the season.  Now in their second year in the 3 A Marysville is loaded and looking to get to the Dome.  Jake says he and the team are bonding so tightly this season and feel like they can do it all.  A closeness and confidence he was clearly a big part of developing.

Awesome news for Jake and the Marysville Community!  More to follow on this Top Gunslinger so stay tuned.
