That camp..that camp.. that camp of camps.! The NWEFC Football Camp on June 7th really delivered. No one that was at all the camps this Summer would tell you otherwise. Not only did they deliver the exact number of College Coaches that they promised but the Camp, just like last year, spurred on many Prep stars to their first offers. Being seen there by big time schools in attendance was truly a game changer.
That applies to no one more then Jesse Sims of Stevensville High School in Montana. The 2015 TE/DE showed up and he showed out. He caught passes, made stunning moves, and showcased a 6’4″- 238 lb physique that turned heads. Working next to Chase Blakley (Cour d’Alene 2014- UW Commit), Drew Sample (Newport HS 2014- Boise State), and Kaleb McGary (Fife-2014 – 16 offers) he looked on par. And he had 2 years to go.
But come on. He is a small school Montana kid. Could he really man up – pad up- and make things happen at a big time college camp like Colorado State??
“Yes. Camp was great. In fact before camp started Head Coach Jim McElwain pulled me aside and talked to me and let me know they were offering me a full ride,” said Sims. “That was really great and only made Camp even better.”
Once the gear was on the Rams moved Jesse from TE to DE and back again and watched him do his thing. He did very well and the result was the staff telling him he might pay on either side.
This is the 2nd story we have written about Sims; again we saw his raw talent on display at the June 7th event and merely mentioned him. Oregon State and CSU were there and saw what we saw which the camp is designed to do.
“That was a great camp. It has made all the difference for me I think and having you guys get my story out helped too,” said the pure talent who is also a sprinter. “Regardless of how many offers I get I will be at camp again next season; you can bet on that.”
We have long been saying that Camps and Combines without College Coaches and Major Media at them have lost their purpose and are over done. But the NWEFC and it’s staff have the golden formula of having over 20 Colleges there and all the Major Media Outlets- so it is a camp to attend and now that Summer has ended we will be grading that Camp once again an a+ for delivering value and exposure.
Would Sims fit at Ft. Collins?
“Oh yes it’s a great campus and I think the weather and atmosphere is a lot like home. The Coaching staff was great too so for sure they are a school I will be in touch with.”
Next up for Jesse is a visit to the UW this Thursday where he will see family and friends too. A trip he is really looking forward to.
OSU and CSU join Montana and Montana State along with Toledo to make it 5 offers for the big kid with a plan to play big time football. Jesse Sims is hot!
