Could Joey Akers Be The Best Hidden Gem Of The Year?

Wow is this a wild year for High School football recruiting.  It never ceases to amaze me how many great kids are out there.  No one knows who among them will rise and grab the scholarship opportunity that might still be out there.  By now the schools know who they want and are looking at options in case they do not get them.  They are also looking for great athletes who can fill more then one role on a team as they consider who to make those last few offers to.

Joey Akers of Ferndale HS in Washington was an All State DB and led his team in 2013.

One guy we have touched on once before this year came back on our radar and he is from Ferndale High School.  His name is Joey Akers and anyone who has seen him play already knows that the 5’11”- 185 lb. speedster is a star athlete.  Joey plays RB, CB, and OLB.  Looking at this highlight we have embedded below you will see some real talent on display.  From speed to lateral movement he has it.  In a year where corner backs are in short supply (they always are) Akers looks like a great D-2 or D-1AA prospect.  Maybe another guy for CWU to steal away.

Joey has had contact recently form Wyoming,  Oregon, SW Minnesota State, Wayne State, and a real mixture of other schools.  While it is hard to say what the result will be for a First Team All State DB there is still a good chance that he will find an offer out there.   Joey’s HUDL Film is Here and his Head Coach is Jamie Plenkovich  and his number is 360-961-5131.

We wish Joey the best as he makes his move on into college.
