Josh Garnett Heads to Stanford as Thousands Watch

It was a wild affair at Purallup High School today! And the reason was that Joshua Garnett made his intentions for his collegiate career known. Going into the event he had narrowed it down to two schools.

But that did not stop him from going through a process of removing 7 major collegiate programs from the board before he selected the Stanford Cardinal as his University of Choice! And it was quite a decision.

The 6’5″, 295 Pound bruiser drew a crowded house of writers and reporters who flocked to the school for the well orchestrated event. It was something you do not see very often but we are getting more and more used to it in the Pacific Northwest as athletes like Garnett, Zach Banner, Austin Seferian Jenkins, Thomas Tyner, Kasen Williams, Colt Lyerla, Jake Heaps, and others continue to lead the Northwest to the top of the recruiting game on a

The 6’5″, 295 Pound bruiser drew a crowded house of writers and reporters who flocked to the school for the well orchestrated event.  It was something you do not see very often but we are getting more and more used to it in the Pacific Northwest as athletes like Garnett, Zach Banner, Austin Seferian Jenkins, Thomas Tyner, Kasen Williams, Colt Lyerla, Jake Heaps, and others continue to lead the Northwest to the top of the recruiting game on a National level.

There was Garnett, just a kid, looking like a seasoned pro.  An impact player no doubt.

At WashingtonPreps.com we ran an interactive blog and twitter feed as two of our analysts were there for coverage and to send up tweets.  At the Michigan Rivals.com fan page  The wolverine.com their readers and faithful tuned in.  Over at CardinalSport.com, the rivals.com affilate, they logged in and watched by the thousands too.

In total washingtonpreps.com had over 11,000 fans logged in and reading the posts and the tweets.  Now that is social Media Folks!

Interestingly right after we communicated his announcement we lost 4,850 viewers.  We guess that was the Wolverine crew.   Garnett was obviously going to disappoint someone.

He heads to Stanford in what he says was a very close decision.  The affiliation to the players and Coaches and the pre-med program just slightly ahead of Michigan.  Maybe being a little closer to home played into that as well.

Either way the #2 ranked Guard in the Nation by Rivals.com made his decision.  And it was a whopper for the Cardinal who will love to see him coming.  Josh is considered perhaps the most ready of any high school prospect in the Nation in terms of his ability to play early.

We congratulate him, his family, his school and community, the State of Washington, and the Stanford program and are glad that we could be a part of such a great event.

Up next?  Zach Banner of Lakes High School; just down the Road a bit in Lakewood, Washington.  His big day comes next week!
