The first time I saw Mitch Verburg play on the Lake Oswego Varsity he was a 10th grader. He did a lot of things wrong but he also did a lot of things right and I remember walk off the field thinking the Lakers had the promise of the future in him. Last season he stepped it up big time and put on a show in every way a QB can. The multi-sport athlete is perhaps and even better baseball player and its sounds like scholarships are possible for him on the diamond.
We know football and this kid has the right stuff to go all the way. He is tall and has great vision and timing. He makes nice throws but it is his timing and ability to release the ball quickly and deliver it to where his receivers are going and not where they are. Mitch is also fast and in the zone read or play action he is a huge threat to break off a long run.
Most of all I like him for leadership and presence on the field. He is the man in charge and does not rattle easily. In fact he is the total package and yet his recruiting seems quiet and his Hudl at only 221 views. This may well be from the fact that he plays football in the Fall and baseball most of the rest of the year. By no means is Verburg a camp or combine junkie, in fact I don’t think we have seen him out on the circuit at all.
No issues for us as Mitch is now on the NWPR ALL NW Top 200 and we plan to watch him closely this season. His film is attached below and stay with it for a couple of minutes as you will see a broad array of his talents! Best of luck to he and the Lakers this season.
