The young man we have written so much about had not received an offer until about a month ago. And it was boggling to watch Tigard High School’s Manu Rasmussen just carve teams up and go week after week without an offer. After all the kid is so good at so many positions it seemed obvious he was a premier guy. But Premier guys have offers most of the time and his option took quite a while. No matter.
The Eastern Washington Eagles are flying high these days and Coach Beau Baldwin knows talent when he sees it. And the Eagles have raided Oregon early and often these past few years and they dropped in on Manu looking to land him too. After a game and visitation a few weeks back the 6’0″ 185 lb. RB/SLot/WR/KR/Safety was feeling the vibe.
Tonight he called and wanted to let us know it was a done deal. He is going to be an Eagle.
“It Feels good! It’s a good fit and they have a great program! I wasn’t gonna wait around cause I knew what I wanted,” said Manu. “There was nowhere else in the Big Sky I would play so it made sense.”
Manu is also excited to play with other Top NW guys like Asan Neil-Evergin (Timberline RB/DB) and the amazing Camas High School QB Reilly Hennessey who have both committed. It is going to be I-5 Football West represented out in Cheney next season with this crew!
But will a kid from suburban Tigard, Oregon fit in up in Cheney?
“Oh most definitely! I like it up their and so it should be good!”
Tigard was the Top Seed in their Bracket in the OSAA State Playoffs which begin Friday and these guys could run the table. Manu and this special group of guys are firing on all cylinders and on both sides of the football.
Great kid and great outcome. Nothing is done until signing day and we have been on record that this kid in the OSU defense is like a hand and glove fit. He can play with the best and you know EWU is right there as evidenced by their OSU Victory and their excellent season in 2013.
We wish Manu and the Tigers and yes…all of you a safe and happy week ahead!
