Miller Camp In Tri-Cities A Chance To Shine

We covered a lot of camps and events here at NWPR the last couple of weeks and today we saw the start of the serious action get going.  We traveled 4 hours out to the Tri Cities, Washington and hit the Chris Miller QB and WR Camp at Lampson Stadium in Kennewick.   We covered the camp, the All Pro QB, and the effort to shine a light on the Eastern Washington Boys too in our story last week.

In attendance today was a small group of gunslingers and some mighty fine looking Wide Receivers too.   Originally limited to ten QB’s the camps went over a couple of guys which worked out just great!  And we were there with the Camera’s rolling to watch the action.

We will bring you interviews and in-depth analysis this next week but we will mention some standouts today who showed up and a brief statement about them.  They are as follows:

Making the trip down from Spokane were two might athletes. Ferris High School's Jalen Hicks (lft) WR 2015 and Christian Olson- QB 2014. Hicks made a big statement as a WR / slot to watch and Olson added to his credibility as a top level recruit. Great to see both of these guys!

At WR was 6'2.5" - 180 lb Jack Cole from Oregon's Lakeridge HS. Size, decent speed, and some of the best hands we have seen in quite some time. Yep! A top 2015 kid no doubt and one of the best kids we saw all day.

Look here. Someone had to catch a lot of footballs to allow Shadle Park Phenom QB Brett Rypien to post 3577 yards as a Sophomore and your looking at one of the main weapons. The Spokane Valley is home to this guy, 6'3"- 210 Lb WR, Nick Kiourkas (Kur-Cus) like Circus. He has recruiting going and he is going to move on to college. Seeing him was prrof enough that driving 8 hours for no financial gain is in fact not a bad idea.

Perhaps the most polished QB we saw all day, at least one of them, was 2015 prime target Nolan Henry of Vancouver, WA Union High School. Nolan does it all well and with two season left all we can say is "Wow".

At Kamiakin they have a real future star potentially. 2014 QB Kylle Robertson out up huge numbers and is one of several very talented QB's in the East part of the State. We loved his velocity. Young man can throw the ball and is a pure athlete!

Chiawana HS of Pasco is home of the Riverhawks and of this guy! 6'3"- 220 lb Joey Zamora. A 2014 prospect Joey is a known entity and has the guys to go deep into the post season this year. He did it all very well. His physicality was the most impressive. That is a prototype body for a big time QB who can throw deep and run you over too. We love him; a top recruit this year.

A protege of the great QB Trainer Matt James of NIke Football and Elite 11 is young Willy Pflug. The 2015 prospect from Sunset High in Beaverton, Oregon looked sharp all day. A play maker for sure he showed the ability to find the open man and alter his touch from fast to soft depending upon the routes and receivers. A nice day for Willy.

From Wheat country and one of the best small school division teams came QB Austin Forsyth. Connell, Washington is proud of this guy. He has great size and strength and you could see him getting better and soaking up the NFL WIsdom that Coach Chris Miller laid out. Watch out for Austin!

A 2015 top West Coast QB will be Lakeridge HS Eric Dungey . Eric is so good and has led the Pacers for 2 seasons. He is excited to get going under new head Coach Chad Carlson and boy he should light up the skies! Awesome prospect- one of the very best!

The surprise of the day for us, and there were several, was getting a chance to see our 4 A State Champ Thomas Hamilton from Baker City, Oregon go to work. This kid is almost 6'4"- and 200 lbs and he is a 2015 kid. He is a student of Coach Miller's and regularly drives up to 7 hours one way to go train with him. It showed.! Thomas can do a lot of things and he does them very very well. In any bigger market he is stealing headlines. This trip moved him up into all our prospect watch lists and this is a Sleeper Alert officially this guys is!

Underclassmen watch list. This kid is going to be very special. His name is Darreon Moore and you heard it here first! He will be a freshmen at Kennewick HS. And as a Wr/Slot/RB/Corner he has a shot to play early and to track nicely for the Class of 2017! Great skill set- we thought he was a Sophomore for sure.

This  is a partial list of kids that stood out.  There were others and we will bring those to you in the next few days.  In the mean time we send a shout out to Jerry Mercado and Zenon Thornton from WashingtonSportsNetwork.com for making this one day event possible.  And of course thanks to Coach Chris Miller for doing such a great job and making the trip out to Eastern Washington to teach all of these terrific prospects!
