More Top 50 2017 Pacific NW Football Recruits

The Top 36 are in the books and now we move on to 37 to -42.  This is our next 6 in our look at the Top 50 prospects of 2017 – the top High School football players from Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.  We touched off a debate as to if this class is the best we have seen in years.  Some agree and other pundits are not so sure.  One thing that seems clear is that the big men of the offensive and defensive line are certainly among the best and deepest group we have seen in a long time.  The athletes on our Top list are roughly listed based on offers, stars, and an overall sense of what we believe this class will end up at.  Having said that this list is pre-season and guys are moving up and down and we put no specific numbers on placement on our lists.

NOTICE- IF YOU HAVE OFFERS AND ARE A 2017 Prospect and want to be on this please email our editor at dirkknudsen@gmail.com to be included.

Top 2017 Prospects List Hits 42 NW Athletes

Let’s have a look at Group 7 of our Top 50

– 6 more of the best High School football recruits that Northwest Prep Report is covering this season.

Cale lindsay 1

Cale Lindsay – 6’2″- 220 lbs- Lakes High School (WA)- Linebacker

Everything you want in a linebacker he has- definitely a talent and hard nosed athlete.  He will move on to college- many Pac 12’s are looking at him and I would imagine the Big Sky schools will be on him soon.  Watch Cale’s Junior Film here-

Andrew Boston

Andrew Boston – Emerald Ridge (WA) – 6’3″- 185 lbs – Wide Receiver

Boston is tall, has a lanky frame, and almost impossible to defend.  He holds offers from Big Sky schools and he may grab more.  A really nice looking big time receiver talent! Watch his film here.

Marques Hampton Jr Steilacoom Football

Marques Hampton Junior – 6’1″- 190 lbs – Steilacoom HS (WA)  WR

Marques Hampton Junior is a legit prospect with offers from Big Sky schools.  One of the best WR in the Pacific NW for 2017 there was no way we were getting through our Top 50 and not adding him.  This is one talented recruit!  Watch his film here-

Anthony Adams Junior

Anthony Adams Junior, Newberg HS (OR) 6’1″- 190 lbs – FS /Athlete

Here is the quintessential high School Football Recruit.  This guy is a 3 sport phenom and may be able to gain scholarships in multi-sports.  Football comes naturally to this guy who plays QB and Free Safety and can play WR and in the Slot.  Big schools missed on his brother Carnell who is now tearing it up at PSU and we think Anthony is that same guy!  Watch his 10 play highlight and understand why we think he is the next big thing out of Oregon.

Jordan Talafili

Jordan Talafili – Central Valley HS (WA)  – 6’3″- 295 lbs – Defensive Tackle

When you have a top class of recruits you have to have a massive run stuffer in the mix.  We have a couple this year and this is one of them.  Out of Spokane and still way off the Radar is a Pac 12 capable Defensive Tackle in Jordan Talafili.  This guy has WSU or Oregon State written all over him.  His film is one of the most impressive that we have seen all year and we believe any school that is wise will move in and take a closer look at this BEAST from the East! Film is right here!

Luka Nixon Sherwood High

Luka Nixon- Sherwood High School (OR)- 6’6″ – 240 lbs – TE/DE/OL

Here is a guy any school should / will want.  Is he the fastest Tight End in the Region?  No.  The best DE?  No.  But he is one of the best at both.  Much like former Battleground big man Kaleb McGary (now a UW O-Linemen) Nixon has the ability to play all over the field.  He is a great upfield blocker and a force on the field.  To me he is a future Pac 12 TE/O Tackle and I see him being 285 in a heart beat and still fast.  NWPR loves this kid and we believe he will be a HOT prospect as the season goes along! Catch His Film Here

Top 2017 Prospects List Hits 36 With Offers

Let’s have a look at Group 6 of our Top 50

– 6 more of the best High School football recruits that Northwest Prep Report is covering this season.

Caleb Weber 550

Caleb Weber – 6’2″- 230 lbs – Linebacker – Chiawana HS (WA)

Weber is a force in the field and has a lot of upside.  A great athlete he can move up with a good off season and Senior year.  The academic wonder has offers from Brown, Cornell, Columbia, and Harvard to go along with Coastguard, Penn.  He has the size and ability to go all the way.

Frederick Cooper O'Dea Football 55

Frederick Cooper – 6′ – 200lbs – O’Dea HS (WA) Athlete

Probably a corner or safety at the next level – NWPR was first to break his story last season and he had a solid Junior year.  His off season work so far this year with FSP 7 on 7 earned him a West Coast Championship and an Offer from Nevada!  Very awesome upside this guy has!

hunter eckstrom2

Hunter Eckstrom -6’0″- 195 lbs – Lake Stevens (WA) WR

Hunter has all the assets it takes to be great.  He has great hands and is fast- he is strong and his motor and determination to win are perhaps his very best skills.  He is at least a D1-AA WR- We think more.  Hunter is wowing people daily!

Malik Thirdgill2

Malik Thirdgill – 6’4″- 225 lbs- Central Catholic HS (OR)

The big Tight End – D – End has a bright future.  It seems his recruiting has not really gone into 3rd gear.  He had a great Junior year and no doubt will be a Huge factor for the Rams this year.  The fact is he is a big fast athlete that can project to either side of the ball.

Mason Elliott 4

Mason Elliot – Westview HS (OR) – 6’3″- 185 lbs WR

Mason has a long frame-  he has close to a 7 foot wingspan and while he may not have 4.4 speed his size, hands, and route running ability make him a serious threat.  Idaho has offered him and while the Big Sky may seem a perfect fit he could go higher.  Might be a tight end when he fills out.  A talented multi-sport athlete!

Caleb Davis Bonney Lake 2017

Caleb Davis Bonney Lake 2017

Caleb Davis – Bonney Lake HS (WA) – OL/DL – 6’4″- 280 lbs

This is the best linemen in the NW without major offers.  They will come. Everything about this kid screams blue-chip and we know he has the goods to play at the highest levels.  We saw him at the NW Stars Camp and loved him.  Terrific technique and motor.  A great NW Find for 2017.

Top 2017 Prospects List Hits 30 With Offers

Let’s have a look at Group 5 of our Top 50

– 6 more of the best High School football recruits that Northwest Prep Report is covering this season.

Brock Wellsfry 550

Brock Wellsfry – 6’7″- 290 lbs – Hanford HS (WA)

Brock has worked very hard to get his name out.  His size is obvious and while his technique is still in process he shows great ability to bend and move.  Oregon State sees what we see and has offered and Brock is yet another monster linemen in the NW Bumper crop of big O-linemen this year!  We love him!

Anfrenee Gurley

Anfernee Gurley – 5’11” – 175 lbs – CB Arch Bishop Murphy

Speedy and multi-talented this kid had a big season last year and gained an offer from Eastern Washington.  Others are looking and with almost 1700 yards of offense, 3 picks, and 38 tackles last season he has made a case to be a top guy!

John Bledsoe 550

John Bledsoe – Summit High School (OR)- 6’2″- 200 lbs-

In Oregon Connor Neville may be stealing the headlines as the Top QB in the region but catching him quickly is Drew Bledsoe’s son John.  It is not a matter of if but when his first offer drops.  He has huge upside and a big ceiling and he knows what it takes to win it all.  Could be the next big story out of Oregon.

Isaia Mullen 1

Isaia Mullen – 6’4″- 197 lbs- Madison HS (OR) – WR/Safety

This young man is straight up lightning in a bottle.  He can out jump and overpower almost anyone in the defensive secondary and his hands are unreal.  He has so much to offer- Pac 12’s are all moving in on him.  It may take a few games into the season but the Senators, if they find a QB that can connect with him, have one of the best in the West.  A special talent no doubt.

Jason Rucker1

Jason Rucker – 6’1.5″- 180 lbs – Westview HS (OR) –  Safety

Still waiting on his first offer – we have heard several schools are close and with good reason.  Rucker has the full skill set.  His ability to be where the ball is perhaps is his best asset.  He hits hard and is equally solid in pass and run coverage and is a great pass rusher to boot! Jason is a blue chip kid with a terrific attitude.

Darreon Moore1

Darreon Moore – 5’11”- 175 lbs – Kamiakin HS (WA)  – DB

Darreon is very fluid and very smooth and moves well in space.  He is a great pass defender and has a host of schools looking at him and he too has landed an offer from EWU.  His first few games and a big off season will help him establish more.

Let’s have a look at Group 4 of our Top 50

– 6 more of the best High School football recruits that Northwest Prep Report is covering this season.

Jaxson Kirkland 550-1

Jaxson Kirkland – 6’7″ – 305 lbs – Jesuit (OR) OL

Here is one bad A$$ Mama-Jama!  This guy brings it every down and while he is a little less known the the Top Trio out of Washington he is gaining super fast!  He holds 4 or 5 offers and the Pac 12’s are all moving in and they should.  D-1 Size and Power and a mean streak needed to go all the way!

Daniel Green 550

Daniel Green 6’3″- 230 lbs Madison HS (OR)

If there is a bigger, faster, better linebacker in this years class out West you better bring proof- this kid has 5 offers including Pac 12 and Mountain West and continues to grab interest and offers.  Coach Don Johnson has a monster talent and understands how to work with Green to establish his best assets!  Wow!

cody shear

Cody Shear – 6’4″-285- Sheldon HS (OR)

11 offers including Arizona has Shear on the top of our list.  A Blue Chip O linemen and Long snapper.  Well coached, technically ahead of most others, and a guy who can really add to any program and school he adds to as a student and athlete. Cody has a 6’9″ wingspan and coaches do not miss that weapon!

Ali Gaye 550

Ali Gaye 6’5″- 240 lbs – Edmonds – Woodway (WA) DE

Cal has offered Gaye and others are pumped up.  He needs to get his name out more but his long arms, speed, ability to separate, and rush the passer have us and many colleges singing his praises.  He is one of the better defensive linemen in the Class.

Tim Tawa 550

Tim Tawa – 6’0″-180 West Linn (OR)  QB

Tim is the 2 time Gatorade Player of the Year.  A pure talent who has out shined all other QB’s in this class for state and wins.  He is the quintessential QB in every-way and could have offers- but his future is sealed with Stanford and Baseball and we could not be happier.  Coaches would all select this guy to go to war with and so would we!

Jackson Yoast 2017 Archbishop Murphy

Jackson Yost 2017 Archbishop Murphy

Jackson Yost – 6’3″- 265 lbs – Archbishop Murphy (WA)

The only player in the Top 24 who has yet to land a major offer.  No matter.  He will.  We were impressed at the NW Stars camp and he is a top talent.  Jackson is fast enough to be a DE. Plays DT and Guard.  Good athlete who will go bug we think!  Coaches have a look- here.

Let’s have a look at Group 3 of our Top 50

– 6 more of the best High School football recruits that Northwest Prep Report is covering this season.

Demetrius Douglas 2

Demetrius Douglas – Jesuit HS (OR) 5’11” – 170 DB

Arguably one of the best cover corners in the West.  Now at 13 offers led by Oregon and Oregon State. Douglas is fast and a technician and has that X Factor all the great ones have.  Fun to watch and he understands what it takes to be a Champion after he helped lead his team to the promised land last year; 14-0 and a State Title.

Ben Moos 1

Ben Moos – 6’4″- 245 lbs – Pullman HS (WA)  – TE

Ben is a beast of a kid with great hands and nice routes.  He has offers from ASU and WSU and  handful of other D1 schools.  Out of Pullman the Moos name is synonymous with WSU and Football.  Will the hometown talent stay home or move on?  He is good enough to play with the best of the best!

Quazzel White 550 1

Quazzel White – 6’5″- 295 lbs – Lincoln High (WA) – OL/DL

Massive.  That is Quazzel White.  He can move too and that makes him a serious recruit.  He has a Michael Oher type frame and is powerful.  This year he transforms his body into a D1 dandy and joins this inpressive list of premier NW linemen in the Class of 2017.  Has offers and more are coming in!

Cade Otton 1

Cade Otton- Tumwater HS (WA)  6’5″- 218 lbs Tight End

Cade is now on 8 offers and those include Nebraska and a host of other D1’s.  The Pac 12’s are moving in.  He is a big agile TE for today’s brand of college ball that every major schools should be attracted too.  Next to Hunter Bryant and Ben Moos this is the Dude in this years group of Tight Ends.

Tucker Rovig

Tucker Rovig – Mountain View HS QB (IDAHO) – 6’5″- 210 lbs

Tucker has 3 stars by a couple of rating services and is coming back as the 1st team all State QB after going 11-1 and bombing for 2500 yards and 22 TD’s last year.  A big pro-style kid from Idaho leading his State!

Alec Kuzmack

Alec Kuzmack – Eagle HS (IDAHO) – 6’6″- 290 lbs

Maybe Idaho’s top recruit this season- we were not going to not mention our brothers in the Gem State!  The kid can move and he can hit and that is why Boise State and WSU have offers on him!  Watch this big kid move and finish right here-

Let’s have a look at Group 2 of our Top 50

– 6 more of the best High School football recruits that Northwest Prep Report is covering this season.

Connor Neville Wilsonville

Connor Neville – 6’2″- 195 lbs – Wilsonville (OR)

Neville might as well be called Johnny Football because everything about him screams college QB.  He has gained a ton of press over the past 3 years and holds 3 offers; perhaps the best QB in the NW.  WSU and Boise State have offered him and more appear to be close.

Connor Wedington Sumner HIgh School

Connor Wedington – Sumner High School (WA) – 5’11”- 195 lbs –

The “Total Package” – this guy has it all.  His recruiting started to really blow up and then the speedster landed his dream offer from the UW and the Dawgs landed the kid many believe to be the game breaker in this years class.  He is lightning in a bottle for sure!

David Morris 23

David Morris – 6’3″- 210 lbs – Sherwood High School (OR)

What he is will be known to all soon.  A Myles Jack sort of a two way threat who bounces between offense and defense for the Bowmen.  David holds several offers and is gaining interest.  He is a Pac 12 guy all the way and can project to the OLB position among others with his combination of speed and power.

03-Alex Forsyth

Alex Forsyth- West Linn HS (OR) – 6’4″- 290 lbs

One of the fastest rising and most deserving big men in the Nation.  Alex is a technician and driven to succeed.  He now holds 13 offers and those include Oregon, OSU, Utah, ASU, and several other D-1 big time schools.  A guard or OT at the next level we believe this young man to be a total Blue Chip recruit!

Dontae Powell

Dontae Powell- 6’6″- 310 lbs – Richland High School (WA)

Is he is the nastiest and strongest linemen East of the Cascade Mountains?  Yes.  No question.  His skill is not in question.  Offers have come in and he holds several including some Pac 12.  A good Spring could only push him up the ranks.  He is not a secret- the Tri Cities is well known for putting out top prospects and he is one for 2017.

Cody Kanouse Linemen

Cody Kanouse of Peninsula HS has a special brand of intensity

Cody Kanouse – Peninsula HS (WA)  6’7″- 295 lbs

One of the biggest baddest dudes West of the Mississippi.  Along with Sarrel, Bainavalu, Powell, and Forsyth he comprises one of the best groups of Offensive Linemen we have ever seen come out in 1 year.  He holds offers from WSU and ISU and Cody is just getting started!

Pacific NW Prep Football Class Of 2017 One Of The Best In Years

2017 Prospects Out Of the Pac NW –

Top 50 for 2017 – Group 1

Foster Sarrell Looks Amazing!

Foster Sarrell- 6’6″- 310 lbs – Graham-Kapowsin (WA) 5 STARS

20 Majors to his name the young man has all the markings of a First Round draft pick and we have not even seen his best football.  That is still ahead of him.  He is rated #1 in the Nation for Offensive Tackles and #5 in the entire Class by Scout.com and Rivals has him nearly as high.  Alabama, Oregon, USC, UW, Notre Dame and a long list of suitors are on him.  His massive proportions and can manhandle all in his path.  He has a lot of room to improve and that is what impresses me most.  A great kid he is bound for good things and leads this entire class.

Elijah Molden 550

Elijah Molden – 5’10”- 180 lbs – West Linn High (Oregon) 4 STARS

Oregon’s best athlete and recruit this year is 4 Star recruit Elijah Molden.  We have watched him change the outcome of many games on both offense and defense and there was never ever a question he was the best player on the field.  One of the top handful of corner backs in the US, Molden has both hand full of big time offers with Oregon, ASU, Stanford, Washington and others lining up on him.  Speed and Quickness are his best traits but his football IQ is right there – his pops Alex played for the Duckies and in the NFL.  Mr Football in this class is this guy right here and he is amazing!

Salvon David Ahmed

Salvon David Ahmed – 5’10”- 185 lbs – ATHLETE – Juanita HS (WA) 4 STARS

Salvon has to be close to his 5th star because his 4.44 verified laser 40 make him one of the fastest and most talented 2 way threats in the USA.  We count 15 Majors at this time and there are more coming in.  All the big names want  a piece of this guy who is one of the smoothest and most fluid speedsters we have seen in years.  His future is in him own hands and although UW seems to have an inside track he is doing officials with other big names.  What an amazing talent he is.

Marlon Tuipolutu 3

Marlon Tuipolutu – 6’2″- 285 lbs- Central High School (Oregon) 4 STARS

Marlon is a force and our smaller school kid in this top tier group.  One of the less publicized recruits he might be the best of the bunch.  15 Major colleges and rising have offered him led by Oregon, USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, UW, Michigan and more.  He is a Top 10 rated Defensive Tackle in the US and with good reason.  To date he has proven to be unstoppable and is another high ceiling guy.

Hunter Bryant 550-1

Hunter Bryant- 6’3″- 240 lbs – Eastside Catholic (WA) 4 Stars

Bryant is a beast and as a Tight End with sprinter speed in a defensive ends body he is scary.  Hunter’s hands are so soft and he is so smooth its magical to watch him.  Once he catches the ball it is over-  I have yet to see a corner or safety that can hang with him in space.  He has moved the farthest up the lists the fastest and is now sitting on 8 offers including Auburn, UW, Arizona, and Nebraska.  A top 10 – maybe a top 5 US Tight End this year.  Watch this guy go!

Henry Bainavalu

Henry Bainavalu – 6’6″-305 lbs – Skyline High School (WA) 4 STARS

Henry is a guy we git behind before anyone else and it was not hard to do.  He is tall, super athletic, aggressive, and has long arms.  One of the best guard / tackles in the Nation and now sitting on 13 offers.  All the big boys want a shot at this guy and why not?  He is as smart and talented of a recruit as anyone this season.  We love his toughness and demeanor.  He can go all the way this guy.
