Myke Tavarres Continues His Rise – Alumni Files

We give thanks for all our kids.  Those who we have competing now, those coming up, and those who have moved on.  Every so often we hit up those stories of our High School kids who have done well and moved on.  And tonight we have another look at the story of Lakeridge High School Graduate Myke Tavarres.

Myke blew up his Freshmen year at Siskyou's Junior College and had offer after offer come in.  And we kept saying this was the example of how you make it if you really want to.

A special athlete Myke did not take care of his Grades in school.  He had to go to a JC and Earn a two year Associates Degree.  So he buckled down, looked at his options, and head out to Siskyous Junior College in Weed California.  We covered his hard work ethic there earlier this year in April.

Now Myke is verbally committed to Arkansas.  And his Film just came out.  Let's put it this way.  If there is better film out there for a linebacker heading into the D-1 Level we want to see it.  Check Out Myke's Film right here.

"It has been a great experience here at Siskyou's," said Myke tonight wishing all of our Reader a Happy Thanksgiving.  "I will finish my 2 year degree in December 6 months ahead of schedule and I am off to a D-1 School early."

The former Pacer is a shining example of a kid turning things around.  He has not been off school since he got to Siskyous in July of 2011 and is graduating in 18 Months after he arrived.  As he has stated this was a place for him to work on and off the field.  He is now 6'2"- and 218 pounds and a hot prospect.

So where will he go?

"As of right now I am still verbally committed to Arkansas.  But I am still in discussions with Texas A & M, Boise State, and Arizona who have all offered me.  Right now there are issues with a Coaching change so my family, coaches, and I are going to look at all my options and make a smart move for me."

Myke is an example of how things can work out for kids who find themselves looking for options and have grade or other issues limiting their options!

Happy Thanksgiving Myke and best wishes to you!

This is such a great story. I had the chance to watch Mike at Lakeridge and speak with him when he made the decision to go to JC. Nice to see he took advantage of his opportunity. Excited to see him play at Arkansas.

JJ I remember seeing you play at Beaverton High! I was Hillsboro \’81. I know your name comes up once and a while in in conversations. Are you Coaching or training kids? man we sure need guys like you in the game and helping out around here with these kids and doing it the right way. Let me know if you can ever make it out man. Awesome kid this Myke! No on another kid who could have / should have been #1 WR at D1 but everyone \”showcased\” him but no one helped him. This is the story!
