Myles Gaskin Of O’Dea A Top West Coast Prospect For 2015

It’s hard to believe that a kid who already has made such a huge impact on Friday Night football is only a Junior.  Last year Myles Gaskin made a huge name for himself and helped the O’Dea Fighting Irish to a great 2012.  Now two games into 2013 the 5’9″ – 190 pound star RB and DB has stepped things up a notch.  It is safe to say he could be the best Running Back in the Class of 2015 from the Pacific Northwest.

The speedster has a 4.5 40 yard time that has been legitimized.   He is 15 pounds heavier then a year ago and that 190 pounds is all muscle.  His ability to make cuts and move vertically and laterally on the field make him almost unstoppable.  In his first two games of 2013 he has 350 yards and 4 Td’s on 21 carries and has only played 4 quarters.  Game 1 was called at half due to lightning and in game two the Irish were up so big by half that Coach Monte Kohler sat him.   That is 17.5 Yards per touch and 1 TD every 5 times he touched the ball.  With tougher games ahead it will interesting to see what a 4 Quarter game might look like for Myles.

He has recruiting interest and a lot going on for himself.  We Sat down with Myles Gaskin to get a better sense of this young man and to ask a few questions.  Here is our interview from this past week!

————————————

NWPR:  Myles right off the bat let’s discuss which schools are recruiting you for college?

Myles:  OK so Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Georgia and Eastern Washington are all recruiting me so far.

NWPR:  Great group of schools right there!  What is it about you that has helped you be successful on the football field? What are your best traits?

Myles:  My speed I think has helped me most and what has made me so successful I believe is how hard I work and my family and coach support and the O line too!

NWPR:  Are You Quick or Fast?

Myles:  Quick I think but I ran a 10.9 in track this year so both!

NWPR:  No doubt that’s true!  Tell us about your Sophomore Year- what were your stats roughly and what was that season like for you?

Myles:  I had 1,200 yards and 65 tackles and the season was great! But I had to wait my turn behind Tatum Taylor but I had no problem with that!

NWPR:  Ok- so now its your cruciall Junior year- what happened in week 1 and 2 and what are your goals personally this season?

Myles:  Week 1 was a game stopped by Lightning- I had 205 yards on 9 carries and 2 TD’s by half.  Week 2 I had 13 carries for 150 yards and 2 TD’s and was not in the second half.  This year the goal is to win a State Championship, 2,000 Plus and 30 plus TD’s.

NWPR:  Awesome stuff.  Ok so tell us who Myles Gaskin is off the field? If we were friends what might I know about you that other people do not– who are you when your not a FB player or athlete?

Myles:  I’m in the choir for the school and I’m a real laid back person. I like to hang out with my family and my real close friends I have a real tight circle of people but they are all like family to me!

NWPR:  In 2 years your going to be on a College football field probably.  In your Dreams of Dreams where is that?  What schools have you allowed your self to dream of playing for?

Myles:  Honestly any school in the PAC 12 would be a dream because that would mean I’m almost to my dream!

NWPR:  Myles Thanks you for sharing with us!  Your on a great path for sure.  Make sure to stay in touch and let us share the story of you and your team as it unfolds!

Myles:  Thanks to you guys for putting in the work.  I sure will!

This is a young man with talent that is not in question.  It is our belief that he will move on to the Pac 12 and that like many of our top recruits he will have many choices by this time next season.  The only question is who is going to first?
