Nick Mitchell Steps Up To Take First Major QB Offer

Like every year here in the NW Spring brings blossoms on the tress and offers in the football world.  And several kids have been leading the NW Charge again as we move ahead as a region gaining more and more attention from the Nation’s college coaches.  Up until today most of the action has been with our linemen and defensive players; a typical pattern we have found.

Nick Mitchell is a Top QB in the Regon and a Collegiate Hopeful. He was the MVP of Week One!

Nick Mitchell is a Top QB in the Region and a Collegiate Hopeful!  He landed his first major offer from OSU this week!

Now comes a big offer for one of the top Quarterbacks in the Class of 2014 as Oregon State has offered Nick Mitchell of Mt Si High School.  The gifted kid has been right at the top of the lists for Quarterbacks in this class after leading Mt Si on an amazing 2012 campaign loosing only to the Bellevue Wolverines.

Oregon State came after Mitchell yesterday with QB Coach Danny Langsdorf  making the offer.

“Coach called and talked to me for a while and then made the offer.  He said he really wanted me to be a Beaver and that they are planning to take 1 or 2 QB’s this year,” said the gifted 6’2″- 180 lb gunslinger.

With the pipeline starting to fill up at OSU for the QB position we wondered if that was an issue at all.

“No sir.  It does not matter where I go.  I am going to have to compete and win the right to get on the field and I can do that I feel.”

The other thing with this OSU offer is the family connection.  If he chose to be a Beaver it would reunite Nick with his big brother Josh who is there right now as a Freshmen playing Guard and Center.  Josh was a gifted football player and wrestler at Mt Si and has made his presence known as a Beaver since stepping onto campus and should compete to start for the Beavers this season.

“Coach said he wanted me to come play with my brother and be a part of the family at OSU and of course that is a big consideration.  It was really great to get this offer because OSU has been a school of choice for me all along and to get your first offer from a school you really like is pretty great,” he added.  ” I am highly interested in OSU!”

Right now the All Kingco Conference QB is putting on some size and working his tail off to get better.  His 2012 season produced 2,400 yards, 33 TD’s through the air, 4 on the ground, and only 6 interceptions.  He hopes to build on that and talked about the season ahead.

“We lost a lot of kids and a lot of our starters.  But the talent is here and we have all been working since the second week after the season ended.  We have been throwing and going to 7 on 7, lifting, training, and getting ready.  The improvement is really great.”

His team won the 7 on 7 League held by Cole Morgan and Eddie Behringer of NorthwestEliteSports.com which was a 4 week series and featured quite a few top teams.    That is the same group of guys who put on the camp last season at Mercer Island where Nick was the QB MVP along with Isaac Dotson of Newport (WSU) and Nick  says he will be back at their camp June 7th and will try out for the Elite 11 too.

“I am for sure returning to the NW Elite Football Camp and my parents and I are talking about me either going to Chicago or Dallas for the Elite 11 Camp.  Other then that I have been training with QB Coaches Steve Gervais and Hugh Millen on a regular basis,” added the gifted kid.

Gervais and Millen along with Behringer and Morgan are providing the premier training in the Region loaded with options. These guys are producing more and more of the Regions best QB’s and if you look closely at who is coaching your kids you will not find anyone able to compare to these gentlemen in the Seattle- Tacoma area.

Colorado State, ASU, UW, and WSU have all been in a high level of contact with Mitchell.

As he adds physical size / mass to his arsenal he becomes a better option and knows he is going to do that.

You can catch Nick Mitchell all season in our series Chasing The Dream 2013 as we feature about 20 kids from around the NW in a progressive series that takes you inside the lives of kids chasing that collegiate dream and all it takes to do that!
