The highlight of the Junior year for many football players is getting to the Army All American Combine; the Nation’s premier event. This year a huge contingent of kids from the Pacific Northwest made the trip down and made their presence known as usual.The event has been a showcase in recent years for top athletes from the Northwest who has gone down and earned respect on the biggest of National stages in front of hundreds of writers, analysts, and fans.We caught up with several of the guys and gained some insights into what made the event standout to them and checked in with them about their performance and how their journey to the Alamo Dome went.

Army All American Combine Features NW Kids The highlight of the Junior year for many football players is getting to the Army All American Combine; the Nation’s premier event.  This year a huge contingent of kids from the Pacific Northwest made the trip down and made their presence known as usual.The event has been a showcase in recent years for top athletes from the Northwest who has gone down and earned respect on the biggest of National stages in front of hundreds of writers, analysts, and fans.We caught up with several of the guys and gained some insights into what made the event standout to them and checked in with them about their performance and how their journey to the Alamo Dome went.In no particular order here are some of their responses.


Johnny Ragin: Top 40 2013 OregonPreps.com  Wilsonville High School 2013  6’2″, 208 Pound OLB/FB

“I loved the event and got a chance to compete against some of the best in Nation in the 1-1’s which let me know I can compete at the highest level.  I had a great experience in Texas and hope to get on that stage next year which has always been a goal of mine.”

Jimmie Davis:  Top 40 2013 WashingtonPreps.com  Kentridge High School 2013 5’9″, 180 Pounds DB/Athlete

“The competition was tough but I feel I was able to stand out well.  I do not have all the combine numbers but I am pretty happy with my efforts.  Wow that was a great event and thanks for getting me connected with the Army All American Group.”

Mason Stone:  Top 40 2013 WashingtonPreps.com  Mountlake Terrace HS 2013 6′ 165 pounds DB/Ath

“I can say this was a really great trip.  To be on that level with the Nation’s best was a real honor.  This starts off my 2013 right.”

Isaiah Brandt-Sims: Top 10 2014 WashingtonPreps.com  Wenatchee High School 2014 5’11”, 175 pounds ATH

“It was terrific.  In the one on ones I caught every single ball that was thrown to me expect one that QB over threw.  No doubt a great event I will always remember.”  Editors Note:  He will be invited back next year!

Kahlil Dawson:  Top 40 2013 WashingtonPreps.com  Graham-Kapowsin High School, 5’11” 175 Pounds Athlete

“It was an awesome experience. It was good to see how I stacked up against some of the top competition in the country. I think I held my own. Especially in the 1 on 1’s. I had 4 reps at DB. I broke up 2 passes and would have picked another, but the QB under threw it when I broke on it. I was gonna take that one to the house.”

Nate Halverson: Top 40 2013 OregonPreps.com  Grant High School, 5’11”,  175 pounds.  DB/ATH

“No one caught a ball on me all day.  The testing was a little rough in spots but the trip overall was awesome!  I am hearing from schools as a DB and Athlete so this was a big stage for me and I loved it.”

Evan Colorito: Top 40 2013 OregonPreps.com  Beaverton High School, 6’4″, 220 Pounds, OLB

“Great time and I did well.  I was one of the bigger and I think faster guys there.  So it helps me see that I can fit in at the highest levels!”

Darrin Laufasa: Top 40 2013 WashingtonPreps.com  Juanita High School, 6’2″, 218 Pounds  RB/OLB

“I was one of the biggest backs there and I caught some good passes.  It was great to see all the guys from the Pacific Northwest there doing so well.  It was really a great time and for sure helped me see the level of guys that are there.  The game was amazing too!”

Kevin Ahrens: Top 40 2013 WashingtonPreps.com  Liberty High School 6’4″, 265 Pounds OL/DL

We have not spoken yet about the event but he indicated the event was great!

Nick Highberger: Top 40 2013 OregonPreps.com  Wilsonville High School 6’1″, 195 Pounds Safety

“I had a great time at the US Army All-American Combine and felt that going there proved that I could compete at safety against some of the top players in the country.”

Kolney Cassel:  Top 40 2013 WashingtonPreps.com  Eisenhower High School 6’1″, 206 Pounds QB

“It was a little tough to get reps but I did the best with the time.  Big event with a LOT of great athletes.  I was just happy to be among them!”

Andrew Kirkland:  Top 40 2013 OregonPreps.com  Jesuit High School 6’6″, 280 Pounds OG/OT

“I loved it!  The one on one battles were intense.  And I think I proved I can be a top guy.  The game and the whole experience was AWESOME!  Thanks for helping me get invited.”

Ryan Brown:  Top 100 for 2013 OregonPreps.com  Jesuit High School 6’6″, 250 Pounds OG/OT

“I missed a lot of my Junior year with an injury so this was a great opportunity.  I struggled in some combine stuff but it helped me know what I need to improve on.  The skill and 1-1 battles was great and I can not wait for 2011.”

Remick Kawawaki: Top 40 For 2013 WashingtonPreps.com  Columbia River High School  RB/Safety

Thoughts to follow but the word is he was a top performer at several events!

Ari Morales: Top 40 for 2013 WashingtonPreps.com  Bellevue High School RB/DB

“Participating at the combine for me was a great experience. It was good knowing when I left that all the countless hours I put in everyday has been worth it to me. It was great because I won all of my 1 on 1’s at the combine and it makes me happy because I know I can compete at the Division 1 level.”

Nick Santa:  Top 40 For 2013 WashingtonPreps.com  Bellevue High School DL/OL

“The Army All American Combine was fantastic.  I really competed well and it was great to be there with my brothers from Bellevue and the other guys from the Pacific Northwest too.  We all did well and showcased what we are all about!”
