Northwest Prep Football Week In Review – Highlights As Regular Season Ends

It was another busy week and we are getting ready for perhaps the biggest night of the year.  For many kids this is the last time they will ever strap on a helmet.  For others this is the night that they earn the right to move on and be seeded into the playoffs.  Can you believe it is almost over again?  Seems like we just turned on the lights and go this 2012 Season going.

So as we head into the final Friday of Regular Season here are some News Stories we have covered for all of you this week.

Oregon Prep Football News: 10-26-2012

  • Rise of the Underclassmen:  More and more Underclassmen have made a difference for their teams.  Last night we broke the story of Tigard stud AJ Hotchkins and the impact he has had on one of Oregon's toughest teams.  He will be a big factor as we move ahead.  Other kids like 2 way speedster Jordan Morgan at Southridge And his life long pal and team mate QB AJ Woodin will take on Aloha and Maurice McSwain will be out there tonight showing us the best of that 2014 group and helping determine the seeding for their top teams as Aloha and Southridge battle tonight.   At Centennial Tonight Central Catholic will try and win out their League and Centennial will say good by to the season.  In that game we have Aidan Wilder and Connor Humphreys for the Rams and AJ Wienke for the Eagles to name just a few of these special Juniors.      And down South the Sheldon Irish Take on the Grants Pass Cavemen and look to stay perfect in a year where they have run the table and maintained that #1 Ranking.  For the Irish we are tracking Junior WR Mitch Herbert, Athlete Yaddie Dunmore, and big time linemen Tanner Davies.  Look for more and more Junior Analysis as we move on into the playoffs.  The list of our Top Juniors is always accessible here at the website as well.
  • Looking at the Seniors who we owe so much too we covered Lake Oswego a couple of times this week and really needed to because the Lakers have been on a terror again and are undefeated like Sheldon.  So we went deep with Senior QB Justen Ruppe and talked about all these terrific Seniors that have led this squad.  You can catch that story right here- Lake Oswego Led By Solid Senior Class.  In a game we will cover tonight we will be watching them and the Oregon City Pioneers in a battle that will determine the League Championship.   In that game all eyes will be on OC's Mitch Thompson who gets Iron Man of the year award battling an ankle sprain to go for 353 Yards last week.  The phenom is now at 1930 yards and 22 TD's this season and has lifted Oregon City into the Playoffs.  Good luck to all of the Seniors tonight especially to all of you guys who may be playing your last game.  This is going to be something truly special indeed so make some memories.
  • Kendrick Bourne was the biggest recruiting news of the week.  The shifty and amazing 6'2"- WR at Putnam landed his first offer as Idaho came to town and offered him.  This is huge as this guy ended up turning his life around with the move from Benson to Milwaukie and has helped turn the fortunes of a community as the Mustangs are now 6-2 and rolling.  Even better the young man is getting it done in the Classroom and has had his transcripts improve and is a full qualifier through the NCAA Clearing House as of now.  This is such a great story.
  • Richard Ramsey–  Bourne is not alone as a top talent at Milwaukie.  Ramsey was moved to QB and has blown the position up.  He has been responsible for 800 yards of offense and 12 TD's in the past 2 weeks.  This has elevated him into a higher spot as far as placement into college and it looks like going to a quality JC is in his future and from there the Sky is the limit.  He was Rivals.com Oregon Player of The Week in Week 7.
  • Jesuit Ready To Roll:  The Boys of Cronin Field  Finally they put it all together.  In a perfect game last Friday they went the distance whistle to whistle in a near perfect effort defeating unbeaten Aloha and stopping Thomas Tyner; kind of.  We cover these kids in a Game Summary story  which included an indepth look at their top Juniors and Seniors.  None the least of which was Henry Mondeaux  who we predicted would be a difference make and he was.  But check out the story as you will see that Joey Alfieri, Christian Martinek, and Trent Werner are also leading Juniors who can help these guys run the table.
  • Austin Baird – Marist:  Rivals.com Player of the week for week 8.  The kid moved to Running Back for Marist and s just proving why he is so special.  The PSU Commit was unstoppable with 414 yards and in the past couple of weeks he is approaching 800 yards of offense as well.  WOW Austin!
  • Chris Casey-  Head Coach at Aloha-  There will no doubt be tears tonight as the man who came and changed the lives of every kid and fan of Aloha Football Coaches up his final Home game for the Warriors in the Regular season.  The story is just too good and Chris is a dear friend.  The Oregonians' Jim Beseda put it all in perspective and we have that for you here.  Best wishes to Coach Casey and the Warriors as they battle for a share of the Metro league Title.

Washington Prep Football News- 10-26-2012

  • Like Oregon it was a big week in Washington.  There was a host of games last night as teams rose and fell and started to fill out the brackets.  But until the smoker clear next week on a bunch of cross over games the seeding will be hard to follow.  Here are a few results form last night.
    • Mead Beats Ferris-  This is crazy really.  31-21 Mead wins in a battle that went down to the wire.  Ferris is out of the playoffs and that is sad because they were a ranked team and should have had a shot at this thing.  The GSL (Spokane Region) only got two teams into the 4A playoffs this season.  And Gonzaga Prep and Mead will carry the torch into the post season.  Watch out for either of these teams because they are going to threaten to take it all.  Eastside football is no Joke!
    • Skyline wins Kingco Again–  The Amazing Spartans win the Kingco 4-A Divsion in a Thursday night battle with Bothell and they made it look easy.  The game went down 34-7 with USC commit and #1 QB in the Nation Max Browne taking on a ranked opponent.  34-7 Final as Brown went for 259 Yards and 4 TD's mostly in the first half.  Bothell Star RB Danny Wilson we out in this one but should return for the playoffs.
    • Kennedy Catholic Beats Lindbergh –  So both teams win their Divisions out right and move on in the 3A and 2A Divisions.  This one was lopsided but a good tune up for both squads.
    • Kentwood Beats Kentlake-  31-21:  In a highly entertaining game the Kentwood CONQS won out the season to get great placement into the playoffs.  This game was a real battle and went deep into the contest before it was decided.
