Columbia River Wins Over Skyview Thanks To Fans And Early Celebration

Well I think you had to be there and we are still waiting for the film on this- but Columbia River down 1 point went for the last second FG for the win- the kick was blocked by Skyview whose players and fans rushed the field- The River Coaches screamed “it’s a live ball” and Senior Reese Keller picked it up and took it to the house for the 29-24 win at which point complete Bedlam insued!  Amazing stuff!  Full story at 360Preps.com- http://www.columbian.com/news/2013/sep/14/river-beats-rival-skyview-on-bizarre-last-second-p/

Jesuit Pounds Union 32-7 After Embarrassing Loss To Camas

Maybe it was a foregone conclusion but the Jesuit Crusaders, coming back to Clark County for the second week in a row after an embarrassing loss to #1 Camas, took out their vengeance against the Union Titans.  In classic Jesuit Style Coach Ken Potter had his Crusaders settle in and pound the ground and boy did they.  Led by Senior Joey Alfieri (6’3″- 230 lbs) who is committed to Stanford the boys in gold rolled.  Using a Power I and a nice set of Toss plays and counters the Jesuit ground game was unstoppable.

Led by Alfieri who had 3 TD’s and rushed for 143 yards on only 8 carries the Crusaders amassed 426 yards on the ground including-

RUSHING — Jesuit: Alfieri 8-143, Morrison 19-117, Werner 4-29, Restic 3-58, Jason Talley 13-68, Matthew Ferguson 1-3, Alex Bolton 3-5

Trent Werner, #21 for Jesuit, caught a terrific play action pass from Soph QB Eric Restic who was in his own end zone nearly when he release it.  Werner showed why he is a top recruit speeding up the Center of the field for another score.

Teams better get used to seeing this jumbo set from Jesuit; #4 Joey Alfieri is 6'3"-230 lbs at Tailback and is led by #81 6'5"- 250 lbs Henry Mondeaux- both have 15 plus D-1 Offers.

Union got 60 yards from Leon Siofele who had 190 yards on 13 carries and he managed a score.  The kid is a beast!  Other then that it was a long night for Union.

WE WILL SAY THIS- NO WHERE IN THE NW HAVE WE WITNESSED CROWDS AND HOMETOWN SUPPORT LIKE THAT WE SAW AT UNION AND CAMAS THE PAST 2 WEEKS- FANS – BANDS- CHEER-FOOD- THE ENTIRE THING IS UNREAL WITH THOUSANDS TURNING OUT-

Jesuit is now set to play Central Catholic next week in the annual Holy War!

Mountain View Shows Grit In Win Over Upstart Evergreen

The Evergreen Plainsmen are in a rebuilding year and on the rise.  There is no doubt about it.  And they faced this Years Evergreen squad that is loaded with top tier talent and beat them squarely 24-17.  As usual the Thunder pounded the ground with their set of deceptive plays and power runs.  But it was a pass play and a solid defense that beat the Plainsmen.  Nolan Biggs caught a nice pass thrown by QB Lex Reese to showcase the Thunder’s ability to go to the air; Biggs Rumbled 75 yards for the TD.

Evegreen's Justice Murphy is a major talent and flew over the goal line here for the Score!

Justice Murphy for Evergreen caught some tough catches and showed why he demands a double team.  QB Brandon Bea, only a 15 year old Sophomore, threw for 277 yards and 1 TD and showed why this team is rising up.

In the end Evergreen relied too much on the pass and MV Head Coach Adam Mathieson did a masterful job of mixing up and disguising coverage schemes.  It was a fun game to watch and well worth the double header we covered at McKenzie Stadium.
