It’s been another great season of NW Prep Football in 2013 with Oregon down to 1 game and the WIAA Championships about to invade the Tacoma Dome next weekend. It is going to be a really fun ending! In the mix this year are a bunch of talented Collegiate prospects who will carry the torch for NW Prep Football into the collegiate ranks and it is a brand of football that is increasingly on the rise. Thanks to some amazing alumni of the Region this area has become a hot bed for recruiting.
So as this year ends we wanted to point out just a few of the guys we are all so very proud of that hail from the Region and who we were fortunate enough to cover first while they were at the launch off point of their careers. This is Part 1. No order at all and we have hundreds more we plan to (want to) get to. But given this sample you can see why Colleges across the nation are hungry for more NW kids!
NW Prep Football Alumni Part 1
Former Bellevue Wolverine (WA) and now True Freshmen Myles Jack is starting at UCLA and making big play after big play! We covered Myles in 10th grade and tracked his move from the South back to Washington where he was so special. he is scoring Touchdowns and making picks and sacks as a true Freshmen at UCLA. He has been placed on the Heisman watch list. The kid is amazing!
OWA was an All American like Jack and has flourished at UCLA but fought injuries too. He hails from David Douglas High School (OR) in Portland and is expected to have a great shot at moving on to the NFL once 100%.
Bishop Sankey is the Pac 12 rushing leader again and many believe a high round pick for the NFL. The Gonzaga Prep (Spokane, WA) native was first covered by us in 10th grade fort football and track where he made some real noise. Many “analysts” were not certain he was going to be the guy but this former WSU commit blew that all to pieces! Go Dawgs!
You could watch High School football for a lifetime and never see a finer athlete then Aloha High School’s (ORE) Thomas Tyner! And the All American came across our radar in 8th grade as we are lucky to live in the league he plays in. The kid ran the table and as a true freshmen is now starting for the Oregon Ducks! Boom Baby! That’s the way we roll NW Style.
In 2012 we covered Michael Rector. The kid is special. his top end speed told us that. His hands and routs and all of that have made him down right great! And the Bellarmine Prep Lion (WA) has become an early starter and Rising Star at Stanford!
Isaac Seumalo was a dominate O and D linemen at Corvallis High School (OR). The All American stayed at home and became a Beaver where he became and instant Rising Star at Center for the Oregon State Beavers! Way to go Isaac!
Connor Halliday of Ferris HS in Spokane, WA. has thrown for about a Billion Yards at WSU. The former Saxon has his detractors but boy can he sling that rock. Another superb player from the NW!
We covered “Coop” in the Summer before his Junior year. Seeing him at camp was believing. A lot of Pac 12 schools right now are wishing they had the services of this EWU Eagle now but the AC Davis High Stud (WA)is at the perfect place and playing out of his mind at WR!
Scott Crichton is from Foss High School in Washington. We covered Scott in his Junior Season and again in his Senior year. The UW passed on him. And the OSU Beaver has made them pay a few times. Now he is projecting as high as a top 20 Draft pick!
Mariner HS (WA) Grad Keivarae Russell is having a great career at Notre Dame. He is playing defense and has been in the mix since he got there!
Chris Young of Auburn HS (WA) is a guy that has sparked ASU having more and mroe interest in our Region! The 3rd leading tackler at ASU in 2012 he is having another good season in 2013. A tough OLB that can play big ball!
Keanon Lowe was a 10th grader when he broke out on the scene at Jesuit HS (ORE). His efforts in Track and as an unstoppable 2 way star led him to the Army All American Game which we helped nominate him for! Now he is a staple in the Ducks passing attack and has led that group at times! Way to go Crusader!
Alex Balducci was a kid we met in 10 th grade at the Track at Jesuit HS. Another Central Catholic Ram (OR) we were able to help all the way to the All American Game – a Young man who has become an Impact guy at Oregon on the D’Line! This guy is special folks!
This baby faced kid from Tualatin High School (OR)was someone we saw rise as a Junior and covered him. People did not always see it but boy this is one tough kid who has a bright future as a high round NFL guy. The D-linemen has explosive hips and is a killer on the field!
We covered Brett right after 9th grade. The West Salem Titan (OR) and now Wyoming Cowboy is at the 9,000 yard mark, has 76 TD’s in 3 seasons, and a QB rating averaging around 140. So many Pac 12 Schools were close. But this guy found a home and is one of our best we have ever produced!
Kellen Clute is one of two NW Tight Ends at OSU. The Mead High Grad (WA) is getting some great touches and a real handful in the passing lanes!
We distinctly remember covering Caleb as a massive QB in the Summer before his Junior year. He asked us at the Nike camp what we thought. He did not “love” the idea of us telling him he was bound to be a Tight End. But we bet now he is glad he changed his mind because this 6’7″ monster is a force to deal with and tore up the Oregon Ducks this past weekend. The Kentridge (WA) kid is bound for HUGE things.
There you have a tiny look at why the NW is hot. It is not the coverage, oh sure it helps, but it is the kids and the talent. The NW is known for putting out smart kids with good skill. But adding to that now is top end speed, toughness, and the ability to Impact the game. Look for more and more schools to visit the Region and recruit kids from all schools and to all levels.
Our work continues into a second decade!
All Part of what we do.
