Nothing is left of Football Super Weekend now but the left over Gatorade bottles and some torn camp shirts that came off during those fierce linemen battles that went down at Mercer Island High School and at the UO. In review it was the Northwest Elite Football Camp (NWEFC) at Mercer Island Friday, the FREE and Official SPARQ Combine on Saturday at Tigard HS (OR), and the Nike Football Training Camp (NFTC) at the U of O on Sunday. In total there were almost 1,700 athletes served by the 3 events which have been falling in succession like this for 3 seasons now.
How do we even begin to tell the stories of the kids who rose up and earned some notice and even those who took a step up and saw that they could be counted with the best? Thousands of pictures, hours of film, dozens of calls to make, and one dream. All of these guys want a shot at playing at the next level! They actually love a game that hurts their bodies so much in High School that they want to stay with it in college. And they do so because it is their hearts and souls they seek to fill and the body is an easy trade off.
How we begin is to start with a message from NWEFC founder, Coach Jason Gesser, in which he adresses the athletes and speaks about a hot topic: recruiting services. He pumps the guys up on getting Film- great film- which comes from effort and work. That and a transcript will impress the Coaches like him. That he says is all they need. And you know what? He is right~After Coach Gesser spoke Coach Beau Baldwin of EWU spoke to the kids which was great and then it was on to 3 hours of non-stop action and a fast paced camp where the kids all got as many resps as they wanted in front of almost 100 College Coaches. The pics say it all and it was awesome to see.
NWEFC MVP's – All Camp Team
Here are the guys who were at the Top of their Game and who were voted the Camp MVP's by the Coaches and Staff who were in attendance! These votes are not always based on projection into college. Many kids in camp project higher then some of these guys but there can be no doubt when it came to hustle and impressing the coaches on this day these are the guys who were with a big group at the top!
Tomorrow Rivals.com / NWPR will post our All Camp Awards as well. That will be based on a number of factors and will be heavily weighted on ability to move into college as well as many other factors. We hope to shed more and more light and more and more of the stories of these great kids that made it out to camp!
