NWPR All NW 200 List Turns Up Talent – Keith Moore Break Out

NWPR All NW 200 List Turns Up Talent – Keith Moore Break Out

The task we set out to do 10 days ago was to scan our hundreds of pages of notes and thousands of pictures to develop a list of the Top 200 college prospects we believe can play College football.  It started out easy enough.  Washington has about 15 multi-offer big boys and Oregon about 9 or 10.  That was the first 25.  We then dug in on another 25 top athletes and then another and last night we hit 100 plus.  Now we are looking at athletes we know will get offers and really grinding this thing out.  There is no order and no logic beyond the fact we will get through our notes and review every single piece of film we have.   We also have asked that you email us your votes and your suggestions and that support has been overwhelming.  32 athletes have been submitted by you, our readers, and all have been reviewed.  A few of them have added “Wow” moments for us after we saw talent we had totally missed on.

See Our ALL NW TOP 200 List Here-

A few things have become clear.

1) No One knows all the best kids- we will put our hat in the ring as top dog with all due respect to Ryland Spencer at NEI who is right with us! We are in fact grinding this thing out to the end.

2)  NW Talent is so deep that we are still finding hidden gems- and D1 guys too.

3)  It is never to late.  Keith Moore at Olympic High School is living proof of that.

“Dirk – Please Check out Keith Moore’s JUNIOR YEAR FIRST TEAM ALL LEAGUE on Hudl.”

Coach Keven Smith sent those simple few words in and that was it.  It took us a few hours to get to it.  It took us an hour or so more to think about what we had just seen.  Was this for real?  129 views on HUDL was nothing.  And was that film altered or sped up?  There was no way this Moore kid was close to 3oo lbs and no way he is an unknown.  No Scout profile?  No Rivals? No 247 sports?

And wait not even NWPR has him listed? What?

But all of the above is true.  Keith Moore is a First Team All League Defensive End.  He is 6’4″ and 280 lbs according to him.  The film was not altered and he is an academic qualifier.  He is an unknown partly because not many people are following Olympic Football outside Bremerton, Washington.  The other part of that answer is that Keith Moore does not come from money and means and has not been able to get out to any football camps but two.

1 was a couple weeks back where he showed up to Portland State University for a day camp.  He had a good day and he left with an offer.  He also attended the UW Rising Stars Camp and the Coaching Staff seemed “really interested” according to Keith.

Now I am going to stop this story and I want all of you Coaches, Recruiters, and fellow writers who read and follow my stuff to watch his film; just promise me you will finish the story before you go off the deep end trying to get his information.  We have that for you – just email me.  Unless I am wrong, and that rarely happens in this arena, we are seeing the rise before our very eyes of a Pac 12 scholarship player.

Watch Keith Moore’s Film Please:

“I will be a defensive end in college.  It does not matter how big I get that is where I want to play,” said Keith matter of factly filled with spirit and confidence. “I know I can play with the best of them and I am driven to succeed!’

This is what I wanted to hear.  His film shows quick explosive feet, great use of hands to shed blocks and defeat Offensive Linemen, and tremendous vision. Now he is playing at a lower level but listen up.  That skill in that frame is going to translate.

“I play some basketball and just started with track.  I threw the shot 58 feet this year if that is worth noting and I ran a 4.86 hand timed 40,” he added.

Yes Keith those are both top tier helpful things to know.  It sounds like he has had a bit of a rough road as  young man.  He is a Christian and words of faith appear in his social media with a smattering or hip hop and shout outs to the ladies.  Pretty typical kid.  The fact he looks like a young Michael Strahan is sort of cool and maybe a sign of things to come.  But how does any Coach know what he is getting in a kid like Keith or any kid for that matter?

Research. This guys is the real deal.

“Hey, I’ll never get over this,” Moore said. “My friends will always be in my heart. I know they’re still here with me. Everything I do now is for Luther. I’m going to work hard for him this year. He always told me, ‘Keith, you’re going to go D1.’”

This quote is from a story in the Kitsap Sun – ‘Funny guy’ helps Oly students heal

You are going to want to read that to complete the pieces of this young man’s puzzle.  He stood up and helped his town when 3 classmates died in a fatal crash in Seabeck. Moreover Bremerton is a town he moved to just 3 and 1/2 years go with no family but his Grandma.  He was running from his past and looking for a new start and a future.  He has found in at Olympic and in the Community.

Let me be so bold as to say Keith Moore may be the best story of this recruiting year and that is saying a lot.  He stands a very good chance to play for anyone and Portland State knows what they stand to gain in him.  It would be very wise for WSU and OSU to get on this guys trail fast.  The Huskies are there and could get into the game for sure.

We had to ask him what his dream looks like- his football dream that should play out a year from now.

“If you ask me that in the past I would have said the Oregon Ducks all the way.  I have been to games and once they got Marcus Mariota I was hooked.  Man a couple year back I would have given anything to be a Duck.  But I realized as I matured that they have stars at Oregon and the program seems more about the stars.  That’s not me.  Now after really thinking about this and studying teams closely I would say Alabama and Texas A&M are my dream schools.  They are all about the team and the teams success and that is more me,” he said thoughtfully.  “That would be a dream I would like to come true.”

He went on to say how much he is excited for the year ahead and how much the PSU offer means to him.  It was a great conversation and you can rest assured this is not the last time we will be covering this young man and his story.

NWPR asks that you share his film and this story with your football friends and take a closer look at him.  He is certainly one we have now added to our Top 200 list and we can not tahnk his Coach enough for sending him film in to us!
