It’s been quite a ride building NorthwestPrepReport.com with all of your support these past 5 years. Together we built the #1 Prep Football website in the Pacific NW. My staff, a few volunteer writers and analysts, and myself took on the big papers and media outlets and won providing a platform and a voice for under-dogs and All Americans alike! Our social media sharing and footprint is huge and we are asked on a regular basis to vote in polls and help select players for All State and Bowl games as well. The NWPR site generated millions of views these past 5 years all with you the readers and athletes leading the way and telling us what was important to you.
We have produced over 6,000 stories and analysis articles between OregonPreps, WashingtonPreps, and NorthwestPrepReport.com and have covered over 3,000 athletes trying to get noticed. Athletes who have given their best efforts, blood, sweat, and tears for a shot. It is for them that we persist and push ahead. Boys I see you, not just you D1 big timers, but all of you. It is YOU that made me stop what I was doing 12 years ago in a small gym at a Barton football camp and say to myself “You have to tell their stories”.
I dove in and took on every opportunity I could. I attended hundreds of games and events, interviewed even more coaches and players, wrote their stories and edited countless hours of film and pictures; almost a million of them. In doing all that we accomplished a goal. We were the very first site dedicated to taking the NW Football brand and promoting it to the world. Never a negative article was written nor will there be; all positive all the time. That mission has been highly successful over the past decade with the recruiting numbers nearly tripling in terms of those who are moving on to college on an Annual basis.
I will say I’m very proud of what we did as this Region is now a recruiting hotbed and is no longer a blip on the radar.
Now to the future. I have looked for 5 years for anyone that wanted to join us and take this sort of work National. But doing that meant finding someone as crazy or passionate as we are and who would work for free. Yes – free! These past 12 years I have given between 20 and 40 hours a week every week to the game and the kids I love; mostly unpaid. Maybe it was to honor my father Jack who was a small college All American in the 1950’s out of Tigard High; a man who turned down the NFL in the early days to be a High School Coach as there was no money in the Pros. In writing this tonight I just realized that this is the 1 year Anniversary of his death so I guess this announcement is fitting.
Maybe it was because the hundreds of kids I coached, including my own sons, never really got a shot because they were from Oregon or Washington. Bottom line is that we as a Region are great! We have great athletes and a great brand of football.
The truth is I don’t know exactly why I do this but I do know that I love it and have a lot more to do and to offer.
Today we are announcing that NorthwestPrepReport.com is joining the VYPE Sports Network. You will hear a lot more about them as we move ahead but all you really need to know is that VYPE is being lead by former High School editor and Network Analyst from Rivals.com; Mr. Dallas Jackson. The guy is a star and I feel the best of the best. Many sports insiders agree with this and know it to be true.
The immediate benefits to us are zero financially. But to the kids and NW Teams it is huge! Now our stories will spread out and be featured at Vype.com; our National “Mothership” if you will. They will also be seen by a growing audience of College Coaches from Texas and Florida and California and many other major markets where VYPE is signing new editors and sites.
I’m excited and I hope you all will be as well. Let’s keep this good thing going strong and continue to do what I call #REPTHENW .
This Region is special as are all of you. Expect nothing but my very best coverage. We need help and are actively looking for Interns, bloggers, and photo & video contributors to grow the NW prep football brand even further! If you are interested please call me at 503-799-8383 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Full Hearts, Clear Eyes, Can’t Lose!
Very truly yours;
