Oregon Prep Football: Week In Review

It seems like only yesterday that we were all reeling from Thomas Tyner’s 644 yard-10 TD Epic game at Aloha. And the week following that has him blowing up bigger and bigger. Such a great kid and the stuff of legends right there. Takes us back to the Miracle on Grant Street that Colt Lyerla and the Hillsboro Spartan’s pulled off in 2009

Oregon Prep Football: Week In Review

It seems like only yesterday that we were all reeling from Thomas Tyner's 644 yard-10 TD Epic game at Aloha.  And the week following that has him blowing up bigger and bigger.  Such a great kid and the stuff of legends right there.  Takes us back to the Miracle on Grant Street that Colt Lyerla and the Hillsboro Spartan's pulled off in 2009.  There is no doubt that the stands where ever Tyner is at the rest of this year will be full of onlookers who just want a glimpse of this kid before he is off the land of 1000 Jerseys.

Back to reality.  It was a busy week or so for the rest of the boys of Oregon and we recap this stuff right here in the Week In Review.

RECENT OFFERS:   Both Mitch Lomax (6'4"-240 Pounds) of Lake Oswego and AJ Glass (6'1"-195 pounds) of Jesuit gained offers this week.  Lomax gained his first offer from Portland State as a Linebacker and is expected to have more.  This was a good thing for Lomax who is a true talent and is in the discussion at many colleges.

Glass did receive and offer from Dartmouth and has a boat load of other Ivy Leagues after him.    The process is complicated as it involves a complex matrix of qualifications and financial factoids.  The Ivy League is Division 1 but they do not offer Athletic Scholarships.  Glass has an awesome academic resume and should be a great fit there.  But do not rule out the Mountain West or other D-1 Leagues for him just yet!

Kendrick Bourne  has stepped over DeShawn Stephens in terms of the Discussions of who the premier guy in the State is at the WR spot.   His 3 Game Highlight is awe inspiring as he has put up 435 yards, 8 TD's and some big time Defensive plays for the Mustangs who are now 2-1.  His Coach says his phones have been busy with College Coaches calling and wanting transcripts.  That is a crucial thing that leads to offers.  Bourne has Idaho and a few other schools very close.  Can he maintain his onslaught?  Time will tell.

2015 QB Rising Fast at Roosevelt:  Kimane Domena was featured in a great piece we did at OregonPreps.com.  The Roosevelt star has put up 1,000 yards and 14 TD's in his quest to lead the Rough Riders into the best season they have had in years.  A player and a program to note.

Project PIL Takes Off:  The PIL League was featured in a story about a unique program we are sponsoring to get the kids if Portland's Inner City some notice.  Something that many people do not understand is a difficult thing.

Cade Wilkins And Evan Voeller Out:  The Clackamas QB continues his battle to recover from an injury so bad it could have cost him his leg.  Cade Wilkins of Clacakamas is a talented guy on and off the field.  We will follow his story and want him to know we are all thinking of him tonight.

Sadly another bad injury had sidelined one of the premier linemen in the region who is out for the season.  This is a tough thing to watch as we have had family and friends miss their Senior year as the Injury Bug hits them.  Evan Voeller, the All American nominee, was planning to help his team to a State Title.  As it is he will either have surgery or rehab his shoulder in order to return to the Ducks next season.  One kid we have loved as a person and a player since we met him will be missed out there for West Linn.

Doug Brenner Becomes A Duck:   Big Doug landed that Oregon offer and committed during the past 10 days.  Another amazing athlete heads to the Nation's premier program.

Sam Riddle Rises:  We covered the continued story of Sam Riddle and how he is trying to Rise to the top of the heap.  Is he #1 in Oregon for the 2013 Class?  You bet he is.  Tonight against Tigard he has a huge challenge as the Tigers secondary is T O U G H!  This is a good test of the young man! 1,280 yards and 16 TD's has him leading the State so far.

These are just a few of the stories we covered this past week at NWPR, OregonPreps and WashingtonPreps.  Friday Night should be Monstrous.  Stay tuned for more form the Holy War Tonight!
