What a season it has been over at West Linn for the Lions. Football has always been big in the beautiful town along the banks of the Willamette River and this year the excitement seems to be peaking. A lot of that has to do with some amazing and dynamic underclassmen. By now most people know about Elijah Molden who as only a Sophomore has already racked up offers from the UW and Oregon. But maybe even more surprising for locals and fans all over Oregon has been the rise of 10th grade QB Tim Tawa.
As the regular season ended this past Friday night there do not appear to be more then 1 or 2 QB’s in the State that can post a QB rating like this young man and that includes many Seniors who have college offers already.
What did Tawa do that has us so high on him? The real question is what hasn’t he done?
“The regular season is over at West Linn HS. Sophomore Tim Tawa helped lead the Lions to a 7-2 mark and third place in the rugged Three Rivers League. Through nine games, Tim has completed 69% of his passes for 2,137 yards. He had 28 TDs through the air and five more on the ground, with just three interceptions. “
- 2,137 Yards
- 33 Total TD’s
- 3 Int’s

WATCH TIM TAWA’s 2014 Season Film Right Here-
We watched Tim’s Film. He has great receivers and good pass coverage. But he is doing a lot of things that a 10th grader should not be doing in the best League, in the view of many, in the State. He has done this week after week against amazing defenses as well. So let’s give him big credit – this was a big showing for Tim.
His release is fast and comes on the split second he decides to throw. That ball is gone. Tim run’s well and is reported to have 4.5 speed. Overall his play making ability and calmness in the pocket rate very high too. It is almost hard to imagine how this will progress the next couple years but it will be fun to watch no doubt.
His coach is the great UO and NFL QB Chris Miller and mechanically Tawa has been able to receive daily coaching from a true master of the position which has been invaluable. Miller will certainly be staying at West Linn and this 7-2 season is not over yet. West Linn plays Roosevelt in Week 1 of the playoffs which will match multi-offer QB Kimane Domena and the Roughriders against Tawa and the Lions. Expect college scouts to be all over this game.
Very impressive this Tawa kid and a pleasant surprise indeed in a year where most of the press has been on the upper class men.
