Recruits Rise As Oregon Playoffs Continue

Today we want to span the horizons and look at some guys who have not grabbed that much press attention in the recruiting world but who probably should have.  Good thing is there is still time to gets he word out and to be recruited. In Oregon we had some great games in Week 1 of the playoffs and wanted to bring forward some names for consideration. These are guys Coaches should be aware of right now and athletes we believe can play at the next level.

Blake Fletcher West Linn

Blake Fletcher leads an amazing group of Seniors at West Linn.

Wyatt Hutchinson – 6’1″ 185 lbs. QB Clackamas High School – 2016

This kid has been spectacular all season.  He wins.  Last week down 2 scores to South Medford he dug in and got it done.  He threw for 1 and ran for 1 as well as locked down Chase Cota (which no one does) in the second half.  The Cavaliers won.  He is a recruitable kid and broke over 2,000 yards passing last week.

Jason Rucker – 6’1″-180 lbs. – Safety – Westview HS- 2017

Rucker had 4 sacks last week and assisted on 3 more.  He was amazing in the effort for the Cats and his team got their first playoff win since 2010.  Rucker will have schools looking harder at him soon enough.  This was a just a good time to recognize his efforts.

Sean Kent – 5’7″-165 lbs – Summit HS – WR-SB 2016

Sean helped the Storm secure their first playoff win by rushing and receiving for over 100 yards and had 2 TD’s.  Kent runs a 4.5 40 and is a crucial part of the Storms attack.  They beat South Albany last week and move on to play Redmond this week.

Austin Kramer – Crater HS – 6’2″-180 lbs – WR – 2017

Austin has had quite a season- one of several receivers tearing it up for Crater.  He had a 108 yard return a couple weeks ago and had a big game last week too. Look for him to be a big contributor this playoff season and next year too.

 Devin Kaneshiro – Liberty High School – 5’6″-170 lbs – RB-DB – 2016

Devin was an offensive star last season and this year too.  He is so elusive and fast- he runs with purpose and is such a great leader.  One of the best in the Region.

Conner Mitchell – 5’10” – 190 lbs- Oregon City – RB-DB – 2016

Conner Mitchell was one of the best recruiting prospects in this class but injuries have side tracked him in that regard.  But he never quits.  The kid is an absolute powerhouse with core strength and balance few have.  His performance last week proved top notch with 218 yards and 3 TD’s as the Pioneers handily beat Southridge to move on.  This kid is special.

Chase Crawford – Tigard HS – 6’4″-185 lbs – QB- 2016

Chase is not a flashy QB but he has been getting better and better.  Last week he took things up a notch with another great game- 245 yards passing and 4 TD’s to help the Tigers beat a tough Centennial squad that no one wanted to play.

Kyle Hamper – 6’2″-215 lbs – Jesuit High School – Fullback-MLB-DL Senior

Sam Noyer who is the Colorado bound Senior QB from Beaverton told me about Kyle.  He said that he was way overlooked and the best he has seen.  I will take his word for it.  This guy is a tremendous lead blocker and is blowing holes all over the place for Jason Talley and he is a great short yardage man.  He is a terrific defensive player too.  We loved his film and his first team All League selection speaks volume.

Lukas Adams – Sherwood High School – MLB – 2016

Adams is a leader for the Bowmen and so typical of the boys from Sherwood.  Tough nosed.  Humble.  Hard working.  Talented.  I was there when he caught the interception against West Linn and effectively won the game that many feel was the game of the year.  He is a crucial part of the success of the program and was named Co-Defensive player of the year with Sam Chitty of West Linn.

Blake Fletcher – West Linn- 6’2″- 220 lbs – Defensive Line – 2016

This kid is fast and ruthless.  He is a fundamental player with a high motor and the West Linn offense may steal all the headlines but this defense is special too.  Blake is right in the middle of the action on almost every play.  A very recruitable athlete.
