Ronda Rousey’s Mindset A Blueprint For Success

Ronda Rousey’s Mindset A Blueprint For Success

It was just a few weeks ago I was first introduced to the hurricane force that is Ronda Rousey.  The UFC fighter is perhaps one of the greatest examples of a pure champion that we have seen since great like Mohammed Ali.  She is so well trained that there are few in the world of fighting that would even stepped foot in the ring with her.  But beyond her amazing physical skills is her mind.  A mind that is convinced it and the body it controls can not be beat.  The great ones all have this but it is hard to combine with the gifts to become great.  At the same time managing the private side of life is an equally big challenge.  She seems to be doing some work on that and admittedly has a ways to go.

Her recent tongue lashing of Floyd Mayweather was awesome however.  She calls them like she sees them and I think would gladly fight him.  She has a disdain for him and his woman beating ways documented here in a recent interview.  In addition I believe our young men and women can take away some great points from her recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel live.

Ronda Rousey’s Blueprint For Success- as I interpret it-

  • You have to enjoy the part where you’re paying you’re dues.
  • You have to enjoy the grind and not make it all about the reward.
  • No body is easy until you beat them.
  • I fight above myself the better the competition is.
  • I’m Rocky in Rocky 4-
  • I’m not afraid to let go of the hometown advantage.
  • She is much more then a “home-town advantage” away from beating me!
  • Mom is a great motivator and checks in on me
  • I’m going to make sure this chick remembers every single second of this fight (regarding her upcoming fight with Bethe Correia in Brazil)

As you approach this season remember how this Champion approaches things.  Employ your own ideas of what being the best version of you is and be a great sportsmen and champion.  The great ones all have these sort of self imposed edicts and tenants and it seemed like a good day on a Monday to pay credit to her.  She is no doubt very rough around the edges but her particular sport demands that to even be involved.

These are some take-aways we all can employ in our own lives no matter what we do and come away the better for it.
