Shane Bowman Changes His Mind- Huskies Win His Pledge

Last night Budda’s much heralded team mate Shane Bowman made a few tweets the past 2 weeks and then a proclamation on his Twitter. They were as follows:

Shane Bowman Changes His Mind- Huskies Win His Pledge

This is a wild time of the year and we know this happens.  The recruiting process is never over until it is over and with Budda Baker pulling out on the Oregon Ducks last week we were all reminded of that.  It was the right move for him.  Let’s remember that this is the only shot these kids get at making the right decision and the pressure to verbally pledge or commit is overwhelming and the things that some schools and their fans do are very high pressure.  Last year we saw a number of kids change their minds and at the same time quite a few schools cooled off and pulled offers from kids too.  This is precisely why we say in the recruiting world that it is NEVER OVER until that signed Letter of Intent makes it in to the football offices.  That will all begin to happen February 5th, 2014 this year.

Shane Bowman of Bellevue was great at DE at the NWEFC and went on to an amazing year at Bellevue. His decision to switch to the UW from OSU is a hot topic!

With Chris Petersen and his staff scrambling to take over for Steve Sarkisian and his staff who left suddenly for USC we wondered how the top guys in Washington would take it.  Especially those in the Seattle – Tacoma area.  After all they knew the UW but most did not know Petersen.  It was a little like having your super hot date and her friends leave the dance and leave you heading across town to another function.  Then you find out that even better options walked in the door where you were just at.  The recruit double-take was going to happen in that way after Petersen and his top rated staff came to town.  Maybe that’s the wrong analogy- yes sometimes I am an idiot- but you get the point.

We love Shane Bowman and have covered him extensively.  He will help whoever he plays for.  His Motor and his demeanor on that field is just too raw.  Coach Petersen and his staff are going to know just what to do with this guy.  He is going to be a special player while at the UW in our view.

With Budda Baker and Kaleb McGary still in the mix for the Huskies this next couple of weeks is going to get very interesting indeed as they are he top 2 recruits in the State and still available at this late stage in the game!  Almost anything can happen!  And boy it will be fun!
