The Sheldon Irish, ranked #1 in the State of Oregon, , made the long Journey up I-5 to take on the Southridge Skyhawks. The teams had met in Week 1 of the 2012 Season and had a veru close battle. The Irish had a new QB in Taylor Alie and the Skyhawks were without their Star Qb from 2011 who had decided not to play in 2012.
As game time approached there was some anticipation that this Skyhawk team, strengthened by the return of QB Reza Aleaziz, were ready to topple the Irish from their throne. But Sheldon had other plans.
In a game that Sheldon put their stamp on by dominating both sides of the ball we saw why this Irish Squad is poised to win it all. They really are a very good football team top to bottom. There is no doubt that 3 of their best players who are all transfers made a huge impact on this already loaded squad. James Banks (Marist transfer), Yadie Dunmore (Newport Transfer) and Mike Ralston (Jesuit Transfer) showed terrific skills in their respective positions last night. You add that to an already loaded team from last season and this Sheldon squad is "loaded for bear" as they say.
Final Score 62-27.
Taylor Alie put on the best performance we have seen this season for a QB going 25 of 31 for 350 yards and 5 TD's. he rushed for 112 Yards and another score. How is that for a kid who did not start a game until this season! WOW!
Connor Strahm was once again unstoppable with 150 yards receiving and 3 TD's and 45 yards rushing for one more. His Defense was amazing as welll showing why he was the Offensive Player Of The Year and Defensive Player Of The Year. Truly amazing.
