Berni and Hennessey Lead Teams Into GSHL Battle Royale

Jordan Berni is a very good QB and is taking his leadership role for the Storm very seriously. That has his boys firing on all Pistons. Two great leaders.  Two great teams.  Both teams 4-0 and both kids looking to move on someday to college.  On paper the Camas and Skyview game is going to be close.  Others say that while Camas is tough they are not prepared to beat the Storm who made it all the way to the Final in Washington's 4 A Division last season.

Both teams are loaded with talent.  And to be sure if you go you will be seeing two of the premier guys in the State at the Quarterback spot.

Jordan Berni (5'11"-185 Pounds) got some starts last season for Skyview and looked good.  But the Senior in 2011, Kieran McDonagh, was just that much better.  He is now starting at Portland State and getting the job done as a Freshmen.

Berni has the Storm humming along at 3-1 loosing only to top rated Oregon 6A squad Central Catholic in the opener.  He has rushed for 165 yards and 1 TD and has thrown 65 of 101 for 850 yards and 6 TD's.  So he has generated over 1,000 yards and is doing a great job of leadership and holding the team accountable.  Something Steve Kizer and his terrific staff look for in Berni.

"We are ready for this showdown with Camas.  The preparation has been put in and we have played 4 of the toughest teams we could challenge to get to this point," said Berni who is hearing from Colleges and starting to get some interest.

Will they be ready?

"Yes.  Camas is a lot like us on paper.  They mix it up run and pass and on defense they run some cover 2.   So we will see what all they throw at us early on," he added.  "Our plan is to get the running game established and then open up the passing lanes."

The crafty QB named Forrest Russell (SR 5'7" 180) and Daniel Thompson and guys who have made his job easy.  In the Running Game stud linebacker Jabari Marshall has been featured at the Tail Back and has 11 TD's to his Credit.  Jacob Dennis and Chris Quintanilla are tearing it up in the defensive passing lanes and linemen Zach Wallace, Grant Vargo, Willie Lopez, and Willie Eteaki are all guys who can flat out play and all of whom can be considered collegiate level talent.

Now meeting them across the 50 yard line will be the Camas Papermakers who come in a perfect 4-0.  They have looked explosive and very balanced in their attack on offense and flat out scary on defense.  Coach Jon Eagle is a master of his trade.  There really is no school with a better staff or group of athletes.  So this game will be great coaches and kids getting into it.

Slinging the ball around and cracking off some runs of his own will be Junior QB and rising star Reilly Hennessey (6'2"-185 Pounds) who has been flat out dynamic and raising eyebrows in Collegiate offices out West.    He has rushed in one TD but has a -12 yards Rushing on the season.  Still he can motor and has to be contained.

Through the air he has looked very good and has tossed 66 of 108 and 1,188 yards and 9 TD's.  In these games he has also showed poise and the  ability to be patient and make some good reads most downs.  No doubt he will face the best DB's he has seen all year in the Skyview starters.

No Camas has bested opponents 195-55 this season and have had to take their foot off the gas against teams like Canby and Oregon City which are both playoff teams and they beat a good Lakes Squad 53-14 @ Lakes High School.  So they have not played patsies to get to 4-0.

Reilly Hennessey at 6'2"-185 Pounds has a potent arm and good accuracy. The Junior faces his biggest challenge tomorrow night against the Skyview Storm.

Most impressive to us when we saw Camas were Zach Eagle (JR 5'9"-170)) who is a WR and do it all player,  Jason Vailea (JR 6'2"-235 Pounds) at NT and RB,  Nate Beasley (JR 5'11"-175 Pounds) who is a pure athlete / RB with 300 yards and 8 TD's so far and has 9 catches for 232 Yards and 4 TD's, and Roldan Alcobendas (5'9"-160 pound Senior) a kicker who we saw drill the ball 53 yards for a Field goal that had 5 extra yards on it.

Some other Papermakers of note are Jon Norcross (6'2"-225 Pound LB / RB) who is going to be a collegiate stud potentially, Vicente Huber (5'11"-191 SR) a nifty Running Back / ATH,  Nic Gadbaw (SR 6'1"-210 Pound) a linebacker,   Drew Clarkson (6'4"-275 Pound JR.) and outstanding Offensive Linemen, and wide receiver Dylan White (JR 6'5"-205 Pounds) who is out now but has incredible athletic skills.

Hennessy said by phone that they Papermakers are looking forward to a great game and that they know this is as big as it gets.  Having just moved up from the 3A to the 4A Divisions these tow teams are both rated in the Top 10 and both appear to be loaded up and ready to make a deep run as 2012 hits the mid point.
