Prayers For Mom Needed Today – Faith And Football

Christie Thomas.

I want you to remember that name and I want you to think about her and her amazing family today and in the next few days and weeks ahead. And yes they need your prayers.

Because while most of us have been hunkered in just enjoying the heck out of this weather and our fabulous game this Fall others have been hanging on to life.

Prayers For Mom Needed Today – Faith And Football

Christie Thomas.

I want you to remember that name and I want you to think about her and her amazing family today and in the next few days and weeks ahead.  And yes they need your prayers.

Because while most of us have been hunkered in this Fall just enjoying the heck out of this weather and our fabulous game others have been hanging on to life itself.

Christie is one of them.

Over at Harborview a struggle for life and death has been playing out on and off for a few weeks now.  And it is happening to the entire Thomas Family.

That would be the Family of former Washington Husky running back Richard Thomas.  A local boy from Kentwood who went on to UW and racked up 1,200 yards in a great run during the 1990's for the Dawgs.  The same Richard Thomas who gives of himself to others through his career and community involvement.

Also in the Thomas Family are 3 wonderful kids.  MaRyann Thomas (19) , Richard "Blue" Thomas (16), and young Payton Thomas (10).

Christie herself is a local girl and she and Richard met at Kentwood.  They were both Conquerors.

A brain trauma is happening to her and the family. While she has made improvements and things were much better a few days ago she has now had an internal bleed and is back in the ICU.

And today she will be removed from life support.

Anything can happen and anything is possible.  Knowing Richard as well as I do I will tell you he and his family are amazing and inspirational people.  They are the sort of People we all would be lucky to know and have in our lives.

Those that know the Family know what I am speaking about.

Blue lit up the field Friday Night as a 10th grade starting QB for Eastlake High School to get the huge win over undefeated Meadowdale.  Little Payton tore it up as a Tight End for his youth team on Saturday.  And MaRyann is missing college for now to be there for her Mom and the family.

Look at these three kids and what they are offering while going through something so traumatic.

Richard Senior offers prayers and thoughts on his FB page daily.  And he has opened up this struggle and bravely has invited in all help of every kind.  Here is a recent post from him.

"We may be at back a square one but God is already completed the task.  We have a long journey ahead.  It is difficult for me but I am being stretched like never before.  I am praying for answers and strategies.  With the emotional, physical, spiritual drain, there are financial and resourcing questions that are emerging as well. Please pray for the Thomas family, as we pray for you as well, if you would like to get involved, in prayer, giving, or support in other means please in box me or email me at RICHARDTHOMAS30@GMAIL.com, it is a difficult thing to ask but we exhausted most resources in round 1, round 2 is a battle we can win, just praying for God's people to hold us up along this part of the race, as prayer and support partners.  God bless you and thank you.  We are praying for you!  We hold fast to the knowledge God will never leave us!!!  I pray you hold that dear to your heart as well.  I know it is a cheese thing but often times 1, 2, 3 O'clock in the morning I read over these posts and they minister to me. Your likes and comments encourage me. I thank you."

We have set up a Face Book Page (See Link Below) for all of you to join and Like and please send your Prayers and Support.  This is an amazing family worth our prayers, time, and love.  And they need us all.

Maybe Blue said it best calmly last night as we spoke to him about Football and Life and his Mom's desperate plight to survive.

"We Are One and Our Love Never Fails"

And when he said that he told me that he means that in reference to us all.  Not just his family.

I am all in for these guys folks.

Once and a while you meet someone that makes an impact on your life for the good.  Someone who leaves indelible footprints there that change you forever for the better.  And looking at this wonderful Family I know many of you have been lucky to have crossed paths with them.  I know I have been.

So please get involved and do what you can to help.

Today on Sunday put down your remote, hug your family, say a prayer, and light a candle for Christie Thomas and the Family.  I know we will be.
