The best linemen’c Camp in the US this year was once again Trench Camp in Portland, Oregon. The 3 Day event in pads sorted out the men from the boys as they say. And one of the guys that rose up to the top ranks of the camp as the camp wrapped up was TJ Salu. The 6’2″- 260 lb athlete showed terrific feet and technique in the live drills and won most of the battles he took on.
The thing we liked about him is his smile and personality. An outgoing fun loving kid who is all business when the pads go on. His hips are very explosive and his build is thick and well proportioned. His calves and lower body drive his upper body like a D-9 Cat and when he is locked on he is tough to defeat. The youngster is just coming into his 11th grade year and based on what he told us in a recent interview he may be starting at Center. A spot he can excel at going forward.
While at Camp this Summer at USC the Coaching Staff told him if he was 6’4″ he would have an offer. All kidding aside they did apparently love his Camp performance while he was there.
Watch for TJ Salu this season and catch our coverage of he and the Rams all season long.
Our Battery ran out after a couple of minutes but you can see enough to see this is a good kid right here.
