Top Oregon Seniors – Looking Ahead

Top Oregon Seniors – Looking Ahead

As you may well realize I don’t do numbered lists.  That was something I hated doing my 10 years at Rivals.com and it was never something I wanted to pursue.  No one can list out who is #1 or #50 in order.  It’s great for stroking egos or getting parents and kids fired up and creating debate and chatter in forums.  It is not what we do.  Over the years my work has stayed on what is real and what works.  We look at recruits one at a time and just like college coaches do.

How great of an asset would this athlete be to our team and how bad do we want him?  That is completely driven by what the team needs.  For instance would the heralded Jesuit running back Jason Talley be a great pick up for a team like OSU?  Yes.  The facts seem to be they are not in need of a big running back or linebacker and even though he is a great selection they only have certain needs and very few scholarships to give.  To me he is a Top 3 or 4 selection this season- but that is just in my view.  So being #1 or #9 is not going to impact anyone’s decisions.  Same goes for Star Rankings.

I prefer to just enjoy the talents for what they are.  So as we head into the finals tomorrow here are some of the best Top Seniors from around Oregon that we think are worthy of special mention:

Jason Talley- Jesuit HS- Non-Committed

Jason passes 2,500 yards on the ground and has so far not been stopped by anyone. He might have had 3,500 yards had Ken Potter not called him off. AT 6'2"-218 lbs he has improved and risen to the very top of this class. NO question he is an impact guy at the next level. Has Big Sky offers in hand. Film!

Kayode Rufai – Lincoln HS – Not Committed

Kayode Rufai

#45 for Lincoln is the explosive 6’4″- 250 lb speed rush Defensive End Kayode Rufai. He is the hottest recruit in Oregon this late in the game and that is because he dominated sideline to sideline. He has a near 7 foot wingspan and can run!! 10 Offers including Pac 12 and more are coming! WOW – Watch Film

Cam McCormick- Summit HS- Oregon Commit

6'5"- 225 lb Cam McCormick only played one play last week in the State Title game but it was huge because his team won and he missed this season with an Injury. He is as special of a big athlete as you will see and will tear it up at Oregon where he is committed! Congrats Cam!

Sam Noyer – Beaverton – Colorado Commit

Sam Noyer commits to Colorado

Sam Noyer of Beaverton HS is the best QB in this Senior Class. The 6’4″-215 lb stud is headed to Colorado. Justin Herbert – Sheldon- Oregon Commit

Justin Herbert Sheldon

Justin Herbert is an Oregon Duck commit and like Noyer a top QB in State. He also could not get past Jesuit with his irish but he showed great poise. At 6’5′- and physical as heck the Ducks may have found a Quick Release QB for their offense right in their home town. This is a big time guy!

Osa Odighizuwa – David Douglas- UCLA Commit

Osa Odighizuwa is 6'3"-265 lbs and FAST! Like his All American Brother he too is an All American and playing in the Semper Fidelis Bowl. He is headed to UCLA where his brother OWA flourished - Owa is now with the NY Giants! OSA is the real deal. This guy is going to wreak havoc in the Pac 12!

Jordan Happle – Jesuit – Non-Committed

Jordan Happle has several offers and may land a Pac 12 before it is over. He is the best Defensive Back we have seen play this season and we have some great ones. Also a huge threat on offense. Great athlete still not committed.

Lamar Winston 1

Lamar Winston will go on to be a starter at Oregon. At 6’3″- 215 lbs he is a proto-type linebacker. He showcased every skill you could want in a top recruit and led his team to 2 State Titles in 3 seasons. Not to shabby! A complete college prospect!

Samori Toure – Westview HS – Non-Committed

Samori Toure was the best wide receiver in the class by many's count. His size at 6'3"- 180 lbs is perfect and his ability to make catches allowed him to lead the State most of this season. He is probably the most unheralded of the recruits and capable of great things at any level. Watch His Film!

Brady Breeze Central Catholic- Oregon Commit

Brady Breeze is one of the the most intelligent and perhaps most complete players in the class. I don't believe anyone plays with more heart and more intensity then this guy. A 3 year starter and true football player. Oregon has a good one here.
