Maybe it was just a matter of time for Connor Humphreys and the USC Trojans to meet up.  Because pretty much the rest of the Pac 12 has offered this talented young guy from Central Catholic High School in Portland, Oregon.  Today the Trojans did in fact call and make their intentions official.

USC has now offered this amazing kid from Portland, Oregon.

USC has now offered this amazing kid from Portland, Oregon.

“USC just called and offered Connor,” said Head Coach Steve Pyne.  “This is big for him as it will open more and more options for his future.”

Pyne has previously had the call from the Trojans when USC called to offer US Army All American Brennan Scarlett a couple of years ago.  Scarlett is a rising star at Cal now but Pyne knows very well the power of the USC offer in terms of what it means.

With the sky seeming to be the limit now for Humphreys we reached out to get his take on the situation.

“To get and offer from USC is a huge accomplishment.  Also to know they are only going to sign 1 or 2 defensive lineman adds to how big accomplishment it is,” said Humphreys.

That is 12 Major offers now and with schools like Oregon, UW,  OSU, Cal, Boston College, Boise State,  UCLA, and ASU in the mix we had to ask.   Does USC have enough allure for him to make them a top choice?

“I am definitely going to look at USC now because of how prestigious their school and football program are.”

But right now offer or no offer this guy wants something more then anything.  And it may not seem like it should matter so much but it does to Connor;  a goal driven kid that knows what he wants.

“Like I said before all the offers are great but my ultimate goal is play in the US Army All American Game,” said Connor with conviction.

You see at Central Catholic there are 3 jerseys from the US Army All American Game hanging up.  Myles Wade started it all off and he is now with the Seahawks.  Then it was Scarlett who played in the big game and he seems destined to play in the NFL someday.  Then two season ago it was massive powerhouse DT Alex Balducci who played in the big game on his way to Oregon where he played last season as a true freshman.  Another guy who might see Sunday action.

Humphreys would be #4 and knows the prestige of the event and the fact that it is a feather in the cap of any player selected.  Certainly a nice thing to top off a High School career with and he wants it bad.  Having known Connor for sometime now and seeing him mow down goals like a fresh crop of wheat we feel he is going to make this dream a reality too.

It is certainly motivation for him and that sort of fire in the engine of this 265 lbs speedster D-linemen is down right scary to watch.

You can catch all the exploits of Connor Humphreys and an intriguing group of NW athletes in the Chasing The Dream 2014 series we are writing all Spring and Summer.  Part 2 is coming up next week!

What could be next for Humphreys?  Stay tuned.
